sorry had to say something.... while hush is stuff is interesting in a "I would rather buy tesco branded cola rather than the real thing" (you get the analogy)....the dirty bomb print really seems to be grasping at straws and just makes me mad. Simply put it's misogynistic. I'm sure it draws on graphic novels, esp Jap ones which can be off the charts but i just really have a bad feeling in lookin at this image (though other hush stuff is ok). Anyway i can write more on this later, i'm supposed to be analysing interviews, not art.

good reply anthony and i appreciate it. lookin at hush i see aiko and faile end of. as for misogynistic... i cant otherwise understand what appears to be a lacerated nipple (did i just type that?) and what is interpreted, at least by me, as blood. Perhaps it was a coy way to try and cover up a nipple and I could be wrong there. But why the drippage then?Is she a marathon runner who after a long hot run the chaffing has finally got the better of her? Or maybe she is lactating black paint?

As for the image, I cant see any originality in it. If not faile, it reminds me of the women that used to be painted on the side of WW II bomber planes (perhaps that’s intentional by hush?).

Moreover she looks like she has either
a) just farted a cloud of smoke

b) is about to/or is trying to take a dump

c) is about to use the bomb for personal pleasure (edited to be more polite)

I do get hush’s stuff and am not intentionally slating it. It’s a great alternative when faile pieces costs ten times more. It just happens that I found this image offensive and put my $0.02 out there.

I bought this print and am very pleased with it and at no time have I ever seen it as being misogynistic.
There is room for Blek and Banksy just as much as there is also room for Faile and Hush.

i hope my comments weren’t taken to be shallow. the feeling was real and i stand by them (keep neggin me folks!).... I think this forum is often used as an outlet to push rebranded and second rate tat (Elliot's recent print is proof).

Anyway, I like the discussion that has emerged. Yes, the image is sexual and sure there is a convenient slash on the nipple too. But sexual to what end?

It's clear hush can draw, and his move to personalise prints is great and adds – I’m sure – an extra element to work as no doubt Faile’s stuff does. As for drawing on other artists, I agree and have posted way way back about Faile building clearly in Litchenstien and others and Litch taking from comic books.

My point on Hutch Hush is that… well there doesn’t appear to be a Hutch Hush. I look forward to, as nuart says above, seeing his own style evolve. I do, however respect romanywg's taste and take on the piece.

In the mean time I look forward to seeing some more debate and what people actually like about this piece as opposed to negging for stating one's opinion. I'm not just syaing it's crap. I'm saying why I think it!

Point taken and you are right. But the argument that "it gets a lot worse" doesnt hold much weight in my opinion. Sure the scale of mediocre-obscene art is a sliding one and this piece I’m sure is much more subtle than many other things out there. However, simply stating that it is not as graphic as other pieces out there is a rather weak argument to support the merits of the piece. Moreover, many people argue that the likes of near-porn magazine such as FHM and the like which in essence are c**ktease magazine are far worse (and not just for the blue balls they give you) then actual pornography exactly for their subtleties. Now as we are mostly males on the baord, i'd also be interested in a female's take on this piece too

The hush babe at cargo is fantastic. I've had a number of pints in front of that piece and find the colours very relaxing. But I stayed away from the hush bomb and babe when it came to obtaining some work for my wall. I ended up with the angleface piece, simply because of the lack of titillation. I wasn't keen on having a pair of manga tits on the wall, especially when I don't find hand drawn naked Japanese girls attractive.
