Lady Diana Car Crash paintings by PURE EVIL, by Pure Evil on Oct 4, 2007 17:31:27 GMT 1, Why car crash ?? Because I like Warhols death and disaster series of paintings from 1963 Why Lady Diana ?? Because she is our Jackie Kennedy.. Why lots of them ? Because they are going to look SWEET all together like a rainbow... Im going to show them at a guerilla show in the East End next week... opening thursday night on leonard street I think..
Not LEONARD STREET gallery, just a different space on LEONARD STREET.

Lady Diana Car Crash paintings by PURE EVIL, by dotdot on Oct 4, 2007 17:54:32 GMT 1, I can see where 'it's' coming from .. ie Warhol etc - however - and there lies the rub.
However ... this is not only in bad taste it's right now and on the news.
Now if bad taste is the intention then fine - if it's not- then you've fallen down a hole dude - do you want a rope ?
...If it is the intention - then you've fallen dude - Sgnt Pepper was class as was Guernica - however this is on a frequency which I'd struggle to find many people on.
Don't get me wrong I care as little as the next person... about the subject matter.

Lady Diana Car Crash paintings by PURE EVIL, by dave313perry on Oct 4, 2007 18:16:43 GMT 1, Cetainly kicked up a fuss!
Il be honest with you Mr Evil it doesnt do anything for me - but neither did the original, unlike most people i like the subject matter, which i think is the reason why most people are throwing their toys out of the pram, but still its not 'Graff' enough for me!
Im intrigued by the mystery that shrouds the Diana death, in a purely inquisative way but something just a little more clever may have got my interest
best of luck with the next one

Interesting, controversial and getting a reaction.... off to find BONGO

Lady Diana Car Crash paintings by PURE EVIL, by GD303uk on Oct 4, 2007 18:55:35 GMT 1, "I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" attributed to Voltaire. an artist should do what he/she likes this is a free world , what about the napalm girl, or the image of reagan shot on the floor used in IFTL, cauty dead dad, the list is endles the fact that there is suffering and death should not stop a painting. it is art .
One of the many ways that mankind copes with the tragedy and mystery of the hereafter is through its art. Whether offering advice, expressing grief, or postulating on the afterlife, all sorts of expression, from opera to contemporary best-sellers take on this daunting task with a variety of stances.
what films do we watch or books do we read if death and suffering is not included?

Lady Diana Car Crash paintings by PURE EVIL, by GD303uk on Oct 4, 2007 19:09:15 GMT 1, i agree with you to a point, the motivation for the artist to use suffering and death must be for something other than to cash in. or a cheap laugh.
i never considered myself a royalist but when ( it seemed ) the whole country was in a state of shock it was interesting to witness this, a national identity a connection with everybody, even tho' the grief was world wide. why did they grieve ?
i am not disagreeing with you JD just defending an artist right to express him/herself.

Lady Diana Car Crash paintings by PURE EVIL, by Deleted on Oct 4, 2007 19:43:59 GMT 1, The reaction PE has recieved has been strong but this does not make it good art. It has forced people to discuss 'what makes good art', which is I don't think is what PE intended. It does not provoke much discussion on Diana and I do not see what the artist is trying to express.
