The Faile Bast Deluxx Fluxx Arcade, by jones27 on Feb 11, 2010 19:44:43 GMT 1, Had a quick visit. The Faile/Bast Arcade was fun. Lots of 8 bit love on the ground floor with shoot em ups and a race car console (all covered in paste ups). Some great imagery on the side of the machines, particularly the pretty girl getting a piggy bank off Faile Dog. The machines are 12k ! There was a shooter called 'Waiting for you', it featured (fresh) imagery of a girl shooting another - Im praying this gets released as a print !
Loved the basement, an oasis of red and green offsets. Feeling the 3D paste ups (esp 'everything under the sky') and the table football. Apparently there were 3D glasses but the illusion worked perfectly well without. The colours and smell of fresh ink/paint had threatened a little dizzy spell, so I departed for Part 2.
Quick walk up Rathbone for 'A Decade of Faile'. Ground floor action of boxes, prayer wheels, massive canvases and various prints. Hightlight being 'There were no words' canvas and the Jesus Tiger Study (am a 10 ways fan)..Also cool seeing the older circa 99 prints....V.cool exhib (esp the arcade)
Also funny hearing Steve Laz phone up Faile and asking them who the boxers are...

The Faile Bast Deluxx Fluxx Arcade, by danmuppet on Feb 11, 2010 22:40:04 GMT 1, it was an AMAZING show! as jones 27 said greek street was proper amazing with the fluro paste ups etc! i got 7 gold tokens which are really cool- was going to put them in the machines but decided to keep them! one side of the coin says faile 86 and the other has a pcture of a boy kissing darth vadar and says lon 2010!
rathbone place was cool with art from the last 10 years- some amazing prints! my highlight was meeting patrick miller and he was kind enough to sign a postcard "faile 1986" which i am already having framed- ricardo from pauli framers was standing near by!
