Dale Grimshaw π¬π§ New Painting β’ Print Release β’ Street Art, by Well Hung on Feb 23, 2017 14:50:08 GMT 1, Well hung is proud to announce 'Pride and Prejudice' an exhibition of works by Dale Grimshaw on Thursday 23rd March from 6pm until 9pm.
Dale Grimshawβs first solo show at Well Hung Gallery Pride and Prejudice brings together a body of work based on a βtwo worldsβ theme that Dale has been developing over the last few years. These new paintings contains a strong political message, depicting portraits of threatened indigenous people, mostly from Papua New Guinea, which collide with familiar symbols of the privileged western world, producing a jarring effect that emphasises their powerlessness.
Alongside the new paintings that will be showcased, we will be launching an exclusive screen print by Dale. This will be the first screen print he has released, so it's sure to sell out fast. If you wanted to be added to the pre-sales list, please e-mail us to register your interest.
We have also had the pleasure to interview Dale at his studio in North London to have a sneak peak at his new work and to ask him some questions about what inspires him, his streetart and his forthcoming show with us. To read the full interview, please visit our site here.

Dale was an active member here some time ago too.
Have had the good fortune to meet him a couple of times. He's a gentleman.

Someone here gave me one of his prints years ago, its dark as you like but its a great piece! And a very kind gift!

We are delighted to announce that Dale Grimshaw's Limited Edition Print; 'Paradise Lost' will be launched at the Opening Night of his solo show, 'Pride & Prejudice' at Well Hung Gallery on Thursday 23rd March at 6pm. Prints will be available to purchase on the night with any remaining editions available online on Friday 24th March at 12pm.
'Paradise Lost' is an archival pigment print with a screen printed varnish overlay, edition of 50 at Β£200. There will also be 20 hand finished gold editions for Β£250.
This is a stunning new piece depicting a portrait of a threatened indigenous man from Papua New Guinea - part of a collection of new works based on a βtwo worldsβ theme that Dale has been developing over the last few years.
The print will be available on our website here on the 24th.

The show features a new series of stripped back portraits, which depict threatened indigenous communities, particularly those from Papua New Guinea.
Please join us on Thursday 11th April for a private view from 6-9pm. Music and refreshments will be provided, the event is open to all but please do email info@wellhung.co.uk to confirm attendance. Admission is, as always, free.

The man has great skill and even boarders on that hyperealist skill, yet I can't get on with these images. I understand he is highlighting the plight of threatened communities in papa new Guinea and good for him. And clearly this art reflects the diverse images amoungst these indigenous groups.
However its seems these portraits are becoming his signature pieces. I'm sure this will be a great show and if you like these images their is some great art to be had. Dales stuff has always had themes and symbolism underlying his art and i remember some his great work at signal gallery.

Extraordinary Portraits is a 6 part series featuring musician and presenter Tinie Tempah, who matches members of the public with βextraordinary storiesβ to a selection of celebrated portrait artists who will then capture their likeness. Tinie Tempah specially selected Dale as a notorious London based, portrait artist with outstanding talent and an ability to produce breathtaking portraits.
The show airs on Sunday 13th March at 6.30pm. Dale's episode is the third in the series and available on catch up if you miss it. We hope you can tune in and you enjoy watching.
To celebrate Dale's great achievement, we will be releasing a limited edition print - 'Cronos', edition of 35 for Β£150. The print will go live on our website on Monday 14th March at 10am here. Please do set your alarms as we are expecting a high demand for this print.
