Banksy at Glastonbury, by Strange Al on Jun 14, 2007 15:22:42 GMT 1, i love that. i guess you may appriciate it more it you've been to glasto and had to go through the torment of using the bogs. the most painfull experiences of my life all happened in glasto's porta loo's.
That's the exciting thing about art - it'll divide opinion. Glad you like it.
I've spent many a summer at Glastonbury since the mid 80s (including, the rain sodden 1998 festival), and have experienced the Glastonbury toilets at their worst. Unfortunately, that makes little difference to my opinion on this piece. Now if Banksy had created this during this year's festival with the actual festival porta-loos and without his PR in tow or the permission of Eavis then that would have been a stunt!

Very late in seeing this thread, great news to see Banksy doing stuff again.

Banksy at Glastonbury, by bond on Jun 14, 2007 22:20:06 GMT 1, i think this is absolutely brilliant - the man yet again shows he is a cut above . the genius is simplicity .in my opinion - a message delivered in an effective way that keys into the the way tis country is maybe going
if nothing else at least it's new - but the way POW are going this will not be at the end of an F5 button until 2009 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Banksy at Glastonbury, by Strange Al on Jun 14, 2007 22:20:20 GMT 1, The photo from Getty Images posted by Johnb is much better than the one used in the Guardian.
That said, I stand by my comments that this would have been much better as an actual stunt during the festival without the approval of Eavis, as opposed to the pre-arranged photo-op which it appears to be.

Banksy at Glastonbury, by andrewd on Jun 14, 2007 22:26:21 GMT 1, Exodus, that takes me back!!!!!!!!!!!!! Used to know a few of the main men. As for Banksy and his PR, we knew about Jo Brooks ages ago and even such a popular talented artist isn't going to get the amount of publicity that he hass without assistance or remarkable self promotion. As Silky says just a pity that it's mentioned in those terms in the Gruniard.

Banksy at Glastonbury, by trojan on Jun 15, 2007 17:17:45 GMT 1, Umm. Good points. Whether our hero would like to admit it ot not, there is a massive PR bandwagon behind him now. Having said that I do like this piece, but the moses charactor is maybe overegging the pudding. I wonder if it will protected by CCTV; that would quite ironic!

It all used to be all about getting into Glasto, now I think we'll see queues of people trying to leave with a Banksy khazi or two under their tee shirt, trying to be the first to list it on the bay!

I agree- I like it but the fact that it appeared in the Guardian and the Guardian are sponsoring glastonbury ruins it a little.
