Mr. Brainwash - Late For Work & Its A Boy, by snausages on Jun 18, 2010 2:33:37 GMT 1, Warhol is famous for saying "If you want to know about Andy Warhol, just look at surfaces of my painting and films. There's nothing there." But ironically there was a lot to pop art and his work was slyly clever on multiple levels.
While MBW does on rare occasion do something clever, for the most part, there is "nothing there." Warhol's ideal has finally become reality - that's the part of his work that I like. Yet I wouldn't dare hang it on my wall. I just think it's interesting.
Sad thing is that if this truly is a gag being pulled on the "art world" I think it would be brilliant idea but still I think it's failed as the "art world" has mostly rejected it and it unfortunately is mostly taking advantage of the "street art" collectors and the dumb rich from eastern europe and the art world outsiders that Opera gallery has been working.
But it would be a clever cultural phenomenon none the less. Pop will eat itself...
