David Choe FRAMED, by mp on Nov 20, 2007 18:17:16 GMT 1, Need to post all my pics up here of the collection, but I guess this is a good place to start. I love my Hoppers and put it in an ornate gold frame that I bought at an estate sale. Currently waiting for my City Girl 150 to get back from the framers, but will post pics of that as well when it gets back.

David Choe FRAMED, by lee3 on Sept 23, 2008 19:17:56 GMT 1, No, these aren't framed but this seems to be the spot with the largest collection of Choe works on the board, so I'll post here. I've been talking with Choe the past 2 days and seeing some real nice work coming up for the NY show and I wish I could be there in person. Regardless, he gave me permission to unlock many of the photos I took when I was last at his studio. He didn't want them posted before because some were commissions for others and it wouldn't be cool to ruin the surprise for them.
I'm always grateful to be invited to an artist's studio and have been fortunate enough to see a bunch from different genres. Some are protective of their space and others like Choe are comfortable sharing it. I'll post a couple highlights here and then just link to my flickr Choe photo album below for those that wish to see more. You can see the line of spray paint above each of those works to give you an idea of how many different compositions he's done in that studio over time. His studio includes a loft and a tent for the nights where he keeps working feverishly to the point he's too tired to go home. This was one of the best places I've ever seen complete with drum kits in other rooms to exercise his agression while working on his craft. Enjoy
There are a bunch of other photos here but I posted the widest angle shots above. One time we had a door open so the lighting made some of the photography rather difficult, and I wasn't properly setting up photos anyway. I was more like a kid in a candy store running around feverishly snapping what i could but you get a good idea nonetheless.

David Choe FRAMED, by lee3 on Jan 21, 2009 17:42:41 GMT 1, No, it's not framed but when I saw these photos last night my mouth hit the floor. Color me jealous in a BIG way. Short story long, my father became mesmerized by Choe's City Girl a year or two ago when he visited and that immediately started him down the art collecting path. He is addicted to Choe and hasn't added another artist as of yet to his collection that I'm aware of but now has a larger Choe collection than I do. Anyway, my father played guitar in a band until I was 10 or 11 before deciding he needed to go to college since Les Paul's didn't put enough food on the table for his family. He and Choe have hit it off since Choe is a drummer and when Mitch Mitchell died a few months ago those two were talking about Hendrix which is how this came about.
This is obviously a work in progress as the canvas isn't even stretched to a frame yet (most artists I've seen work the other way and stretch the canvas beforehand) and Choe said last night there is still much to be finished. Regardless, most of the work I've seen of his has been on wood other than the few things at the Outsider's show and I am more than impressed with how well he paints on any medium in front of him. DC said he's been blasting Hendrix at top volume having a good time creating this and I don't doubt him for a second.
