IMO, this petty behaviour has made Rene look like a joke, its not hurting brainwash, its hurting you Rene. This is the lamest, pettiest, stupidest thing you've done in my opinion, it looks awful, its not as good as brainwashes, and it just looks like you've copied him, if people didnt know the backstory they'd think you stole his idea..... We all get he took your idea initially, GET OVER IT. Start producing good art again and GROW UP.

The criticism comes from love really. I too haven't been a fan of this last period in your work. I'll say it, I think you've gotten carried away with prints.

I personally liked how you were more experimental before in mixing abstract expressionism with urban art.

And for a while, you seemed ahead of your time. You produced much of the best stuff MBW did before he did - and even the few pieces of his that I do like, had parts of your artistic style to them. But beyond that, you basically produced Saber's flag before he did.

Some of the works from of your 2000-2003 period are more right now than the work you're currently producing print wise. You were embracing the mixing of form and free hand spray techniques that is making Retna and others hot back when the market was concentrating on rigid stencils.

Why now are you stooping to trying to be a market imitator rather than an originator?

I know you're still trying to find the market and appreciation for your work, but stop chasing and trying to appeal to the sycophantic print consumers of expressobeans, who keep yes man-ing you into producing new prints that depart from everything unique that you bring to the table.

The only reason you don't have a bigger market is that you've never promoted yourself well and weren't putting up enough street pieces.

Also, stop producing what you're not best at. You're not the best in the scene at cutting stencils - not to say you're bad, definitely not the worst - hell you're better than even some successful pure stencil artists at stencil. Some from the Hood Show were pretty stellar.

Still leave the niche to Logan Hicks and Penny. They're going to be better stencil artists than you. Logan's problem is he's too technical. Point is, why are you trying to compete in that game by producing pure stencil work? At least Eelus puts style before stencil.

Seriously Rene, start producing the important pieces you're capable of. Important street pieces especially. But pieces that have soul. In general, you're work has gotten more and more directionless over time.

Don't get me wrong, you have produced some really brilliant stuff - Drained #1, It's Not About What You Can Recognize, Scratching the Surface, Ford Logo, Marilyn, Floating Waste ....

But in general, I feel like you've lost your path in your work. I don't know if you know entirely why you're producing pieces anymore - except because you're an artist. I don't know what message you have, if any, or even can tell if there is any passion behind your pieces any longer - besides the petty ones of responding to people.

You can't be telling me this is all you're capable of producing? Stop trying to please people.

Seriously, I'd applaud if you burnt half of the rest of the editions still sitting around - or cut them up and painted over them. Just something more artistic than having 800+ prints sitting around. Its cheapening what you're capable of.

If anyone has one of these and would like to help me out. I would be very great full. I think only 30 copies are out there. Any help or suggestions as to where i might find one would be great fully received.
