this is england , by sparkplug on Sept 8, 2010 8:57:59 GMT 1, awesome soundtrack, wicked clothes too!!
fingerz - i think it felt slow because it was introducing the characters again, for a tv market and those that have never seen the film. I spect it'll pick up in the next couple of episodes.
Really enjoyed it, personally. Well shot and superbly directed

Looking forward to seeing it again though. Talking about Shane's previous movies, Wiz watch 'A room for Romeo Brass'. Ace.

this is england , by angel41 on Sept 8, 2010 20:15:54 GMT 1, I was a bit dissapointed with the film when it came out as I think I was a bit spoilt by 'Dead Mans Shoes' which was released before 'this is england' and in my opinion is far superior.
I think the first part last night was OK. Those 2 new characters from Shauns class were hilarious. "No I don't want your ginger chips!"
If memory serves the film starts very light hearted until the scouse pycho turns up half an our in so maybe the mini series will work along these lines as he's making a return.
I must say I was a bit baffled by Banjo's change of character more than anything last night.

As a bumpkin from the sticks of Ulster, can anyone tell me if the fashion is accurate for 1986? I thought it was all Smiths, New Model Army clogs and suchlike back then...

this is england , by Coach on Sept 8, 2010 23:59:31 GMT 1, Thanks Wiz. just finished watching it. I loved it. I enjoyed the gentle pace allowed by this being serialised. So many great charachters - Sean, Woody, (especially) Megs. Still fancy Lol! Great music. Great clothes. Teaser for next weeks looks cool. Only downside was realising that the pack of Becks that I had bought to enjoy whilst watching it was (accidentally) non alcoholic! Fool! c

I thought the skin, mod look was more 1980 than 86 but Im in London so cant comment about up North. We had already even been through the casual look hadnt we ? Our clothes in 86 were early duffer etc and going to rare groove clubs before Acid in 88 as far as I remember but it is a bit blurry. Funnily enough that mod look has been with me ever since though but in 86 I think it was a bit dated
