TOX π¬π§ Graffiti, Street Art, Artwork For Sale, by G-Man on Mar 2, 2009 21:06:16 GMT 1, I agree with some on here that it would have been better if he had sprayed them all
A screenprint of the most prolific tagger in London for Β£75?
Not for me
But fair play to TOX if someone had approached me to do this I'd have bitten their hand off, I think I'd have wanted to hand spray them though

TOX π¬π§ Graffiti, Street Art, Artwork For Sale, by dynamixx on Mar 2, 2009 21:14:13 GMT 1, A screenprint "signed and stamped, handpulled" of a sprayed tag - it is a joke but without any wit. Β£75 X 75 = Β£5625 minus 'production costs' (approximately Β£60 in total) minus gallery cut (lets say 30% or Β£1680). Now thats funny ..... except I think the joke is on the buyers. Looking forward to seeing the prequels and colourways, one-offs on concrete etc...once this lot sells out. Don't be part of it. I think you'll find SOS are more ethical than to take the piss with other editions of this, once these are gone they're gone. Production costs are significantly higher than Β£60 too by the way, but that's neither here nor there, you don't value a property on the basis of the cost of bricks and mortar.

That is very true but in this instance I'm not sure it's even worth the paper it's printed on.

And what in god's name makes this worth more than everything or anything in the Β£50??! You'd need to be deranged or brain damaged to buy this imo. It looks like sh1t.

i'm also not a fan and feel it is a peetake at us who enjoy urban art or maybe it is the duchamp for this genre hopefully people have purchased as they like it and not to make money. Will be good to see some framed. I think.

i dont think its the fact what it looks like but for what it represents. to some people tox is inspiring. people often get trains around london and see the amount of paint his gone through. he is londons most prolific and i love seeing the tag.

I think this is a long way short of anything that merits being described as street art or any other type of art and it's an insult to all the great street artists discussed in this board, as well as all the SOS customers here imo. However, I certainly understand your points Grant. It's the fact that people are being asked to part with Β£75 as if it's nothing that I can't get my head around. I reckon they're having a bloody giraffe!
I will not post again about it anyway, as I'm being quite harsh and I realise there's no need, as you'll each make up your own minds regardless. So I'm sorry if I've put a downer on this for anyone, but I was initially quite surprised and wanted to express that.

TOX π¬π§ Graffiti, Street Art, Artwork For Sale, by Deleted on Mar 3, 2009 10:55:13 GMT 1, this is all about perception
obviously Tox represents different things to different people. You're buying this because it means something to you and stands for something. Personally looking at this I see someone who's as anti- establishment as anyone over the last ten years, who's been nicked at least eight times, who's not doing it for money, who has no interest/idea about this rather sad little world of stamp collecting (sorry I mean " urban art appreciation"), it reminds me that you can stand out from the crowd and you don't have to follow the sheep and you don't need to be like everyone else.
Looking at this for artistic merit - whatever the fuck that is - is just ridiculous.

Too many 'artists' only hit the streets (even a safe controlled way, 100 yards away from BRP etc..) when promoting their latest print/show

quiet a lot of contradictions in that statement.

Do you find dog shit inspiring too? London must have some of the most prolific mongrels on the planet - their shit gets everywhere. I must admit, whenever I step in a freshly laid turd, I often find myself contemplating the amount of pedigree chum the "artist" must have got through to produce it.
