Just hope we don't get a VAT bill from Fedex now - I think they can send them out after delivery. The form said 'Faile Book' as description and value as $50. Doesn't really help the cause! well it does because vat is not applicable to books.
I was under the impression that not all books are exempt. What I meant was if they'd made it clear on the form it was an Art reference book then there'd definitely be no problem, because 'Faile book' probably doesn't mean anything to the customs people.

However I thought it was going to be a catalogue raisonne for Faile prints between 1999 and 2009 and it clearly isn't. There are numerous faile releases missing not least ALL of the oversold prints from the March 2007 release and all of the POW releases.

I don't understand why major street artist don't release one (like Shep, Banksy, Faile...) that already have a lot of prints that went out and there's also a lot of good fakes out. It always help to have a book like that without having to ask everything to pestcontrol... I find that my catalogue raisonnรฉ are the first thing I look up when I buy a print from Lichtenstein, Warhol, Chagall, Miro or Picasso to check them out (unless you have extensive knowledge on everything).
And they look quite reluctant to do it also..

Pez, I haven't seen the book but I am pretty sure Prince Charles was released in 2006 (I bought one too). See bellow

They were working late in the studio and I was still awake at silly a.m. so it was almost like a live chat. When they said one of the designs was exclusive to Gestalten, I headed over there and literally stumbled across the pre-order in all it's glory ;D Can't wait to see all the designs though. Oh yeah, and Faile proofread each one too

I think that it's important to have a catologue raisonnรฉ (even an online one would be nice) when you start to have a lot of works that have been released and/or that you start to be a major artist on the market (not only a niche artist). That we like it or not, some street or urban artists are (or becoming) major contemporary artists. Which also means that it appeals more to forgers.
Hopefully, it will come on day in 1 or 10 years lol

For example, it took chagall almost 30 years to release his first 192 prints (including prints from illustrated books like the Bible or Fables de Lafontaine).. To compare (sorry for the arsh comparison lol) how many prints Brainwash released in 2 years lol. The catalogue raisonnรฉ vol 1 of Chagall consists of 192 prints released. Volume 2 is only the prints released from 1957-1962.
I think the name makes it more pretentious "catalgoue raisonnรฉ" but it's just documenting the work released with basic information : edition size, signed, unsigned, stamped not stamped where is it signed/numbered/stamped....

I noticed the book already arrived to Portugal so I contacted them. They were saying I have to pay about about 70 euros plus 21% VAT, would be about 100 euros to pay.
After some discussion and explaining them that they had the information that it was a book so the VAT would be 6%, and as the total VAT is below 10 euros, the VAT is not charged at all.
This is really a stupid as I needed to explain all these taxes law details to them, then the lady went to talk with the boss and later said that I was right but I needed to send them an email with all this, so they would ask the customes for this to be applied. Can't just they do that for themselves?
Even with without VAT I will need to pay them about 60 euros... She sent a list with all the charges to be applied, they even charge warehouse fees.
Really, really robing people...

I got mine today but totally damaged.... big hole right through the fromnt of the box into the cover making a big dent and hole in the cover and corner bashed too
