Find these look a bit dull and flat in the flesh. One of the few Hirst editions where the price was lowered by Other Criteria

Damien Hirst "The Souls" 7th Oct, by oddkabob on Nov 9, 2010 7:53:21 GMT 1, Being in the U.S. I had my first chance to see the new "Souls" butterfly prints at the NY Print Fair this past weekend and they look amazing. All of the online pictures do not capture the depth and richness of the colors. Online the colors look flat without texture. Depending on how the light falls on the print or the angle of viewing the colors shift and sparkle. There is both a pop in the colors and a subtlety in the texture that needs to be seen in person (I guess that applies to most art, much better experienced live versus online).
The Paul Stolper booth had lots of on-lookers as the butterflies seemed to appeal to a wide audience young, old and in-between. Probably a lot of new converts for these prints, they feel very high quality in terms of production. I've seen the butterfly etchings but these new prints really stood out. Of the many, many prints I saw that weekend these were the highlight.
