Moniker Art Fair, by chaturz on Oct 20, 2011 22:11:55 GMT 1, Here are some views from another site.... would be interested to hear what you thought of it carl?
i thought the standard of the work show had dropped significantly from where it was last year, but at least it was new work this time rather than secondary market stuff that had been around the block a few times.
some truly shocking work on show. a couple of the artists booths were particularly terrible too, and they were artists i've enjoyed in the past. i guess some didn't bring their 'a-game' most was just meh though. did seem well organised as a whole though from what i saw. shame they had to resort to print releases to get people through the door. i wonder how the galleies sold this year? i went on friday and there was some party for a media sponsor - a fashion magazine i forget the name of. no one was there for the art and some of the moniker staff had to protect it from getting damaged as all the gallery people had given up and gone home.
nice work from dabs myla at their booth and i really enjoyed joshua petker's chair pieces, which were a complete change of direction for him, and one that he seemed comfortable to take. quite a bold departure, and i wish him well with it.AND... After seeing this year line up I wasn't bothered going this time. Last year there was an opportunity to do something but it was missed. Judging from the pics I am glad I didn't waste my time. Totally disagree, I had a great weekend. Met a load of the artists, forum members and genuinely nice people including gallery reps. Grabbed some nice prints too. Only low point was having to deal with the bad attitude of stolenspaces Beth ( I think that's her name).

Moniker Art Fair, by Hanging Around on Oct 20, 2011 23:02:33 GMT 1, A lot of effort went into Moniker this year, and obviously it can't be to everyone's tastes which is cool, but there is nothing wrong with having print releases.
It wasn't to get people through the door, it was to get people involved, getting people to pull their own screens, and understanding how screenprinting works. Plus, the artworks were decent, and cheap (or free for Dabs Myla).
Glad that people had a good time though.
