KAWS KIMPSONS Card sets from 2000 available again, by adewilliams on Nov 3, 2010 12:55:56 GMT 1, the execution is sublime I will say that and surely he's a pioneer of subverting ads. His early writing was amazing. All good IMO

KAWS KIMPSONS Card sets from 2000 available again, by jackcuzzy on Nov 3, 2010 13:39:18 GMT 1, I think Kaws' toys sell so well because people can't afford his canvas work and they are of famous icons. That and the fact that his 5yr Companion retailed at $180 in 2007 and now you can't find them below $1000. I think a lot of hype surrounds getting his stuff at retail because if you don't, chances are you will regret it.
If Banksy released a toy, I'm sure people would be more interested in owning "toys".
I got into D*Face stuff from buying one of his sculpted D*Dog figures. Some people would call it a toy, others wouldn't. I think "toy" gives it the wrong sense of meaning. I collect figures by a few artists but I don't play with them!
Is collecting comic books for 5yr olds as well? Not that I do but I'm curious how someone can assume you are sad for collecting something you like. For every artist, 3D or 2D, some people won't understand it.

KAWS KIMPSONS Card sets from 2000 available again, by Gentle Mental on Nov 3, 2010 14:17:38 GMT 1, toys, sculptures. to-may-toe, to-mah-toe.
They're all 3 dimensional things you enjoy looking at.
Despite being vinyl and an ed of gawd-knows-how-many, Kaws's latest, "Pinocchio and Jimmy" are just so poignantly pretty to have around.

KAWS KIMPSONS Card sets from 2000 available again, by Deleted on Nov 3, 2010 14:40:08 GMT 1, I wouldn't but the KAWS pieces personally, but I can see the attraction and the beauty in some of the figures. The whole "designer" toys thing is a whole different genre which I'm sure there is another forum for out there on the web. However, I don't think there is anything wrong with grown adults collecting these things and displaying them in cases or on shelves.

KAWS KIMPSONS Card sets from 2000 available again, by Happy Shopper on Nov 3, 2010 16:13:52 GMT 1, The same people that rave about MBW, Burning Candy and monkey prints, slagging off one of the major pioneers of this scene? Strange behavior.
I see these no differently to prints (and require a lot more work!). If they were called Artist Edition Sculptures and not Toys, perhaps people would see them differently.
Hey Ho... it's only a bit of fun...

KAWS KIMPSONS Card sets from 2000 available again, by A.R.T. on Nov 3, 2010 22:12:18 GMT 1, Why do you collect his work then?
I collect his work because I dig the images. The only reason I buy something is because I like it. I dont buy into hype. The MBW images I own are Superman Gold, Jackson Pollock, Le Bistro, 33rd St, and Obama vs McCain. Every singe one of them I like and will be hanging at a future date.

The images you mean;) Well, reason enough.
It would be something if MBW became the Warhol of our time and Banksy the footnote.
