JBOY π¬π§ New Print Release β’ JBoy Art For Sale, by tmccarthy41 on Jan 26, 2011 15:05:59 GMT 1, "Intellectual property laws vary a little from place to place, but the foundations are the same. They protect the effort invested in an image from being exploited by someone other that the copyright holder. The rights of the owner are normally not affected by the absence of the copyright notice β the person who owns the intellectual property will still own the rights to that image even if the notice is removed.
It is unlikely to be illegal to modify the image. What might be illegal is to use the image without attributing who owns the rights. Making a profit from the image without paying for its use would clearly be illegal.
If you know who owns the copyright, you should contact them and explain what you want to do to the image, and why, and seek their permission for that"
jboy- I'm sure you've contacted the photographer already, however- if you haven't, I do believe it would be in your best interest to do so before selling this prints as your own. Because the subject matter is of a little boy, the parents/owner of the photo may own the intellectual property of said photo, if the photographers relinquished the rights to them at the time of the purchase, however I doubt it.

Shurely thats immaterial, no one would part with any cash for one of these? Would they... I mean really?
We all know it's a joke, that Jboy is making a comment on the cynical street art print market. Where people are paying ridiculous sums for photo-shopped non-art made by talentless dweebs trying to cash in fools who are easily parted with their hard earned. Right?
I mean, I bet he's even got Silky in on the Joke, you watch he'll be making the same joke next, te he he....

JBOY π¬π§ New Print Release β’ JBoy Art For Sale, by pcant on Jan 26, 2011 21:27:42 GMT 1, This may be overly simplistic, or naive, but if you don't like a piece of art, no one's making you buy it, right? So, what difference does it make if someone else does? Or if someone makes prints you don't like. Who cares? I'm looking forward to receiving my gold Yoots, I think it'll look nice on my wall and make me smile. And that's kinda the whole point, right? There are artists on here that others love and I don't. My not liking it is irrelevant to them liking it, or at least it should be.

JBOY π¬π§ New Print Release β’ JBoy Art For Sale, by pcant on Jan 26, 2011 23:40:49 GMT 1, You're right, of course, opinions are not subject to debate. And they're not even something I can "like" or "not like." Your opinion is yours, mine is mine, etc... I guess my point was more about how some threads degenerate into attacks and counterattacks, and I'm not sure what that accomplishes.

JBOY π¬π§ New Print Release β’ JBoy Art For Sale, by tmccarthy41 on Jan 27, 2011 3:06:39 GMT 1, all I hope is that jboy has contacted the original author of this work before any money was exchanged.. if not- there are serious penalties for this type of copyright infringement (at least in the US)
I (for the record) am not making any ill gestures, or remarks towards the talent of said artist, just explaining the legality involved in a situation such as this

JBOY π¬π§ New Print Release β’ JBoy Art For Sale, by nacional on Mar 23, 2011 17:38:08 GMT 1, But it just has to be said...
Good to see that Jboy's "print" "Yoot" on e-bay is doing so well...a furious bidding war has seen it pushed up to 1 shiny new English penny in 1 day, from a starting price of, ahem, 1 shiny new English penny.
Get the bids in guys, only 4 days to go....
