Choose Your Weapon Ebay Price, by raiden on Dec 9, 2010 7:23:30 GMT 1, We're not talking about the one guy who puts one up for a "Buy It Now" for some stupid price where it sells in 20 seconds. Nor the one listing that goes for £200 less than all the others because it sounds a little suspect.
What price do you think you will reasonably be able to get this print on Ebay for three weeks to two months after it comes out?
Discuss.

Choose Your Weapon Ebay Price, by G-Man on Dec 9, 2010 7:43:22 GMT 1, This is wholly dependant upon the size of the edition and how many colourways it is released in. When the flood hits Ebay, if the edition is similar to the last couple of releases I would say about £1450

Choose Your Weapon Ebay Price, by spencerlee on Dec 9, 2010 8:48:05 GMT 1, Last time I speculated on how much a print (a different one) would go for on ebay before it was sold, I was shot down in flames for encouraging flipping. So just to warn you.
My argument then was that this place is a haven for flippers anyway, who don't need any telling to flip.

Choose Your Weapon Ebay Price, by raiden on Dec 9, 2010 9:36:01 GMT 1, Thanks for the heads up Spencerlee...
And people are going to hate me for saying this...
But I think its naive to expect anyone not to try to take advantage of a situation where they can profit 300% by winning the opportunity to purchase a piece of paper. Particularly when the total net profit of possibly £1,000 equates to:
218 hours worked at the US minimum wage 3 weeks worth of Unemployment checks, if you're collecting the maximum amount allowed in California 39 weeks worth of Unemployment, if you're collecting the minimum amount in California 4% of the total income of the average American 25+ One months mortgage + food given the median prices for each per month in the US
So yes, I understand the frustration with flippers, but selling a print allowed me to pay my rent when I lost my job in 2009. I seriously have no idea what i would have done if I didn't turn the $50 Obama Shep Progress print I had in a tube into a $3000 at that time.
So...
If a kid is scraping by each month to make tuition flips this print more power to him. And if some Dad is having trouble putting food on the table and paying the mortgage, flip away. I got to say, I can't even really fault someone for flipping it merely because they want to afford to finally take their wife out, when every month they weren't sure how they'd be able to and still pay all the bills.
And like it or not, Banksy prints for many people are less pieces of paper with art to be appreciated, and more a piece of paper that's a better bet than a lottery ticket.
Hate away for me saying it, but I just can't fault anyone for flipping a print when it affords them the ability to not stress about their entire mortgage for a month.
We're not talking £50 here, we're talking the mortgage of most people for a month or the car payment of some people for 6 months.
If Banksy doesn't like it, he should release more prints.
I for one am dying for a Banksy, so I would never dream of flipping it.
Thanks for the heads up Spencerlee...

Choose Your Weapon Ebay Price, by I like pictures on Dec 9, 2010 9:55:21 GMT 1, To be fair radian if someone is struggling that much to put food on the table or make car/mortgage payments i doubt they'd have £450 to spare for a print and then wait for it to arrive before flipping it or risk having their order cancelled. I think most people that flip the print probably have enough cash to pay for those items in the first place but see an opportunity to make a quick buck on an item that will always sell if sensibly priced.

I agree that its not likely the utterly destitute can afford the £450 upfront cost.
But take simply the unemployed - which comprises approximately 30 million Americans at the moment. Most have no idea how they'll make ends meet long term, but still have a credit card to charge £450 to if it meant flipping a print for £1500.

Choose Your Weapon Ebay Price, by balibob on Dec 9, 2010 10:47:02 GMT 1, Flipping the new Banksy print is going to happen, everyone know it. Those who really want it will keep it, but lets face it, it is £1500 guaranteed in the bank if you get one. We had to pay the price on ebay for Donuts and if you really want one, for most of us, ebay will be the only option.

Choose Your Weapon Ebay Price, by Existencil on Dec 9, 2010 11:31:02 GMT 1, With the market the way it is, hard times and all that, you won't get much more than cost. You might make £50 - £100 but no more.
I wouldn't bother.

Choose Your Weapon Ebay Price, by Deleted on Dec 9, 2010 11:55:37 GMT 1, why are threads like this allowed to pop up on this forum? This topic isnt News, Gallery News or New Print news, its just speculation and a discussion point for pending flippers.
I really do hope less people on this forum get the opportunity to buy the new Banksy print - from what I have read, its not the art that seems to be the point of interest, but the price.

I have never obtained a Banksy print at source despite trying for the last 5 years, so I have no love for flippers. Missing out on a print and seeing it on ebay 10 minutes later for 3 x price is galling.
