Banksy • Choose Your Weapon, GREY Queue Jumping, by colinfishwick on Dec 24, 2010 1:14:00 GMT 1, If you had slept 12 hours in a queue in -3 degrees and were fairly in a queue and safely in that queue..then someone f**ked you over. Then you would moan as well and dont pretend you wouldn't. Its very easy for people to sit at their desks demanding a website drop saying that all those people are moaners. Try it yourself... After this there will most likely be no more prints for a long time as i get the feeling banksy is fed up with all of that stuff. And dont give the whole 'homeless people do that every night' because their night was probably more civilised and free of people turning into knob heads.
John, mate, you're talking shite here. it wasn't even close to -3 degrees, more like +3 and what is more i'm sick and tired of people going on about queue jumpers - there are now 58 officially remunerated on that basis, yet i was around 80 when i joined the queue and 105 when i got my ticket, if that ratio continued then 58 would be a stretch considering that the cut off was 175.
people make out it was hell on earth, was it f**k- a few tried it on and were told where to get off by me and further down a lad with a West Ham scarf and work boots but other than the misinformation from POW and their failure to properly oversee the queuing system their were very few problems.

...says someone who queued and got one to the person who did the same and didn't. Would be a different story on the other foot. I would say there was about 230 people max in line before the jumling started, that means that figure is about correct give or take 10 or 20

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon, GREY Queue Jumping, by colinfishwick on Dec 24, 2010 11:45:12 GMT 1, except about 50 people + went racing off to Berwick Street when they were told the last 30 would be sold from there.
i'm sure you're right, i wouldn't have been happy to miss out and i do genuinely feel sorry for those that missed out - i know of someone who was in line at Berwick st, got round to commercial st, missed out there, went back and missed out again and when she spoke to POW after they posted a message for peoples to get in touch they just said sorry.
it was a complete organisational disaster not helped by a devious few but they really were the minority - many people were there for the right reasons and were well behaved, it seems it suited some peoples agendas (not @you) to make out it was far worse than in reality so they could stamp their feet and demand recompense from POW.
i might also add that where we were a good half dozen people from behind the 250 mark came down and made conversation and then asked of they could stay with us, all nice genuine people with hard luck stories but we all said we owe it to the people that are around 200 to make sure no one jumped in. it was a pretty tight ship from the bus stop back to the corner.....

i started at 140 in the queue ended at 220ish. so POW figures are about right.
To claim that yourself and a hammers fan prevented queue jumping is pretty unrealistic - im sure you tried. The fact of the matter is when ticketing commenced a swarm from the back of the queue and the from all directions at the front create chaos.
The people that really notiecd how much queue jumping was happening where not you guys at 50-100. its was the people like us on the threshold of the 200 mark who noticed every 5, 10, 15 people that joined the queue throughout the night.
Of course the night wasn't that bad if you managed to grab a print

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon, GREY Queue Jumping, by bert on Dec 24, 2010 12:44:58 GMT 1, £4k! Jeez, no wonder people are flipping if those are the prices people are actually paying!
I wonder if we'll look back in 10 years and think "£4k for a print of a stencil...bloody hell". I think I've reached that point to be honest.
Although it's hard to peer through the smog of crap on here sometimes, I'm pretty sure a large chunk of the posts around this print are either talking prices down or up (mainly the latter).

On the point of the £20 note I think its the bank of England and if people didn't feel it was worth what it says we would really be in the economic shit (even more than we are, look at Zimbabwe!)

i honestly do feel bad for you and those around you that missed out, i know we didn't stop everybody but trust me when i say if we weren't as proactive then even more would have shit out - including me probably!!
my gripe is that 58 appears to be an arbitrary number and not indicative of the amount of people that missed out - if what you're saying is correct then you also need to add on the people that raced off back to Soho to miss out again and also subtract the 30-50 that did pick one up.
a dangerous precedent has been set here, if you are going to make an edition for people who were wronged then you surely have to take due diligence and make sure everyone who has a genuine case gets an opportunity again, not just those who stamp their feet and shout the loudest. if POW ever do this again they're going to get a shedload of complaints from people over the most trivial of matter in the hope of extending the edition and getting themselves a print.

So based on that... all the prices of Banksy prints that have gone for on eBay can be discarded?

Once again proof that people only take notice of the auctions that back a story (guy u replied too). It says offers so will go for less than 3k if someone thinks its worth it.... no where near 4k +

How ironic. ;D
Maaaan, We now need a Lottery edition for those (like me) who were not selected by POW. I want to flip a 0,45K print for a 4-10K easy GBP too !! arh arh arh

No, you need to judge it over a longer period of time not a few weeks after a banksy release. Many people bought these to flip and have multiple prints so like to enhance the price.
This has happened for the last few years with big artist releases.

i think you will find the majority were there not to flip. were you in the queue? These discussions are still going on as (not like normal) people cant pick loads up on ebay after for their ideal price. There is not actually that many, there was more when NBG came out. The price of them is what it is. Alot has happened this year and things have changed since last year with banksy stuff due to a load of PR. So just because historically theres been a pattern, do not expect that to last forever.
Those selling now for that money will never see the light of day again and if people were all their to flip (like you say) then i would expect to see tons more on ebay at the moment, but where are they then??

Yes I was in the queue and I did not say the most people there would immediately flip the print.
You have been around the block enough times to know how the art Market can be manipulated, also I doubt you would be hyping CYW if you didn't have one yourself.

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon, GREY Queue Jumping, by Warm Gun on Dec 24, 2010 16:25:39 GMT 1, I'm pretty sure freerange has one. From reading the forum it seems that he was in the queue, if he didn't get one that way then he probably got a moaners one, hence all the talk about the queue jumping edition.

People use it in the wrong sense. If he is aware or not, no one knows, but he has done something very clever with the pr of this by creating small editions. No one has said its an edition of 500 odd as its not. Its 17 editions of 25, 1 of 100 and 1 of 58.
No ones hyping anything, look at the fact that these are tiny editions. What other banksy prints edition of 25 do you know that go for the 'normal' price whatever that is.
I dont own any, yet, but im more interested in how these have been marketed. Obviously its working.
It looks like one release for 2010, but its not is it... Its actually 19 print releases.
Its supply and demand, it is pretty obviously going to be worth alot more if theres only 25. Even when theres 250 of a colour you dont see many of them after 6 months. You might never see any of these again for a long time after the people that are intending to SELL theirs have done.

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon, GREY Queue Jumping, by ciscokid on Dec 24, 2010 17:18:21 GMT 1, it is all about the money - i think a lot of people on here want the prints to be seen to be worth far more than they are.
