Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by Cocteau 101 on Dec 12, 2010 0:59:56 GMT 1, Has anyone seen the different dog ones. The dalmation is best but the parsons Russell terrier looks fuckin ace. The dachshund looks a little small compared to the hoodie but to have one of those would be pretty cool.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by sashaz on Dec 12, 2010 1:16:32 GMT 1, I hope the sods law approach will get me one in the lottery. I use to have untold cash and could have got a lottery one without thinking about it and never won. now i have to watch my money and shouldnt buy one so I hope to win one.
Fingers crossed.
The gold one is cool as a nod to Warhols importance of the gold ones.

Just to point out POW are in NO WAY to blame for humans behaving like animals.I was shocked to see 4 guys attack 1 guy and in the time it took me walk 300 metres or so still people just watched, only when i started pulling the dirty animals off him did someone else step in
4 guys were also said to working for guys at the front, then again a LOT of BS in this thread
Edit. No inside info etc, but i wouldn't be totally surprised to see something else

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by Neate Michael on Dec 12, 2010 1:55:19 GMT 1, 18 colors, 17 x 25 + 1 x 75 = 500 prints.
Personally I wish it was 18 colours and runs of 250 for each.
It would still sell out. I would still pay ยฃ450 for one. And it would mean the flippers would make less. And the charity would make more.
I really like the image, and the colours. And the fact it is Banksy. I do not care about the exclusivity part, and I bet most people on here wouldn't either, save for those who buy to sell.
Have to say, I agree with earlier posts that it is a shame that Banksy does not do more prints and larger print runs a la Shep F.
I think I stand more chance of winning the Euro Millions than a print from the lottery, but I am in there. I hope genuine fans win the lottery prints. Unlikely I guess. But one can always hope.

It can be said that POW are at fault for their lack of preparation. Being in the US, my only experience has been reading the threads for the overnight que for NBG and CYW. Last year the thread read like a great party I couldn't attend. This year, not so much.
There is something to be said about organization.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by Wearology on Dec 12, 2010 2:28:03 GMT 1, Is it the art? Is is the potential profit? Is it the chase? We should ask ourselves what is it that we all desire from the Banksy experience. Maybe it is the fact that we are witnessing history in real time. Banksy is our generations Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, Basquiat, Fab Five Freddie all wrapped into one elusive mofo. Sir Banksy is our Picasso !!!!!!!

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by longorange on Dec 12, 2010 2:41:36 GMT 1, nice idea. what are other's thoughts on the various colourways? for me, having so many diff colours (10+) is actually a bit off putting for the print. i'd prefer 1 or 2 diff versions max, and to leave it at that.
I tend to agree. Does cheapen it a bit for me personally

Yeah but so few of each colourway after a while these will settle into collectors hands and you won't see many of these colors come up again. Now if it were an edition of 250 a piece then you gotta point cuz eBay would look like a skittle machine for years. ;D

Well anything is possible. Whilst Warhol is now a sensation I have no take on how popular he was when he was at the same stage of his career as banksy. I know he was in with the in crowd and was involved in loads of different projects but did he have the mass appeal that banksy now has?
What is clear is that banksy resonates with so many people. His art is very relevant to the society we live in. It's impossible to speculate about whether he will be our andy Warhol but what is clear is that we are living a fascinating period in contemporary art history where the influence of the internet and social media is having a profound effect on the way that we all view (and consume) art.

I'm not sure I would describe the money as going to charity but rather going to a political cause which banksy (and for that matter I) agrees with.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by F*X on Dec 12, 2010 9:11:06 GMT 1, I have only just woken up after the debacle that was Friday/Saturday morning I was lucky enough to get a print. On collection POW told me that COAs would have to be applied for later on line in order to "stop instant flipping". Judging by the flee-bay links at the top of the page this does not seem to be working however. Sorry if this has been posted before. I can't yet face reading the 30 pages I have missed.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by pcant on Dec 12, 2010 9:28:49 GMT 1, All those ads at the top of the page (I think I checked them all) are missing any mention of a COA. Every seemingly legit eBay ad or forum post selling a signed Banksy makes it perfectly clear that it comes with one, it's important if you're going to spend thousands of pounds (I know they can be faked, but that's another issue).
Lots of other enticing language about limited run, sold out immediately, all that (especially the guy with the long absurd story about "selling it for his friend who has a massive overdraft"), but nothing about proving it's not a fake. Also, the gall of asking 10K for it and still making the buyer (read: idiot) pay 20 quid for shipping is breathtaking. I guess if they're taking piles of money from idiots, might as well pile some more on top.
I do hope applying for COA later ruins it for the greedheads. Yet another reason (besides the insane price) to not buy one.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by spencerlee on Dec 12, 2010 9:31:28 GMT 1, Well, it's good to hear some people off the forum lucked out. I actually love this print, think it's one of his best for a while. Simple, some nice colourways.
I didn't make the trip for precisely the reasons listed in this thread. I don't mind waiting, but the pushing and shoving would f**k me off. I don't feel entitled to anything, but it's about simple fairness and the right thing.
As for POW. Well their hearts are in the right place so I suppose the most they could be accused of is naivety. A plan, 6 security guards (for the whole night and morning), a camera and some raffle tickets would surely have seen much better execution of the whole affair?
