Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by Happy Shopper on Dec 1, 2010 16:18:08 GMT 1, If I was them I'd do a lottery. With the weather as it is I think any plans they had for a queue may have changed... (I hope... in some ways!) Plus, if they've had the Police around this week, that may have changed things too.
I've never won a lottery, but there's always a first time!

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by OutsideIn on Dec 1, 2010 16:37:44 GMT 1, who cares what ever the weather. no ones forcing people to queue.
i would love to see the following
Edition of 600
100 = f5 online release with 30 min warning before release 100 = instore "5 chances to pick a card on the wall, turn card to reveal winning ticket to purchase banksy, one card will win you a free banksy print' 200 = queue at soho 200 = international lottery
if they did it in that order on different days it would work and would be a hell lot of fun

That's true, and they could see it like that too. Or they could feel they have a slight responsibility to keep buyers safe... Even if those buyers should know better! LOL

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by sm on Dec 1, 2010 16:51:08 GMT 1, From memory the weather was fairly bad last year, it dropped down to 0 degrees on the night of the queue, which is what they are predicting for London this weekend and next weekend will only see temperatures down to 3 degrees overnight. As long as you have a sleeping bag it should be fine.

Exactly, it was cold last year and I think people forget that.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by truetiger on Dec 1, 2010 17:39:05 GMT 1, Dont people think whta i suggested to be a good idea. It might not be as limited as other prints but at least the flippers will think is it really worth it cos there could be a few thousand of these prints. i think making it available to everyone would deter flippers. i think this would be fair.

And get lotto to scrap the jackpot and have ยฃ100 for 3 numbers instead. In an ideal world we would see Banksy release this as a poster in HMV for ยฃ7.99. But you nor I would be on here if true. Its all down to desire. Pow want people in queues, it creates hype.

saturating the market with these prints may not be the answer - much much more than 2000 can be sold in the 12hr period suggested.
I like the idea of a time release but for a much shorter time period (e.g. 15 minutes)....but who cares what I like
Nothing deters flippers or truly controls the secondary market - I've seen some Josh Keyes prints be time released over a period of a week for $30 - and yet they still command and sell for multiples of what they originally sold for....

Do you think you are the first person to make this suggestion? Go back through the history of this site, and you will see that what's being suggested is nothing new. And I expect the same arguments will surface next year, and the year after that.
There's a limited number, not everyone who wants one will get one; and I expect quite a few will end up on ebay. It's not right, but that's the world today. If someone can make a few pennies by being lucky, who can blame them. It doesn't make it right, and I will be as annoyed as the next person. But there are plenty of us who have experienced disappointment since Banksy became popular, feeling agrieved that because we were in at the start we were entitled to preferential treatment from POW. We're not. Get over it - it's only a bit of paper.

Truetiger-Save your bitter judgemental attitude once for once this print is released. Then you can join the chorus of haters who didnt bag one. I really couldnt care, as mine shall be hanging on the wall next to my Supine, Francis, Banksy and Denning (hardly a flipper eh).

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by ninja on Dec 1, 2010 18:21:13 GMT 1, wHY DONT POW/Banksy do this; From the hours of 8-8 on a particular day they just sell as many as possible. On the cut of point at 8pmthey will have sold for instance 2000 prints then this would be the edition. Then everyone who wants one at cost would of had the chance of getting one.
I've said this for a while and thought that the trend would head upwards. It seemed to be the case when Flags was released, then Trollies came out with a huge edition (750 colour alone) but then S&S came out with an edition of 500.
The price of these on the secondary market was relatively low afterwards which I thought was a good thing since it made flipping less worthwhile but then they have reduced the edition size again with subsequent releases (though two colourways in the case of Donuts).
I guess the bottom line is that POW are collectors who own Banksy art themselves. They are also responsible for ensuring that demand for the prints remain. They don't want to see demand drop because it is relatively easy to get a print or prices lowered by saturation of the market.
That's my take on it anyway.
