There was a red one for sale in a Courchevel art gallery last month. Didn't ask the price but looked great.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by stevieray101 on Apr 17, 2012 12:07:10 GMT 1, Why is there even a question that this is not legit? This is a great buy!! Excellent price Congrats, hope it's a fellow member!!
the reason for the question is that gift prints are a grey area, with POW not always issuing a COA for them.
I don't think their approach is consistent so when someone claims to have a COA for a gift print the question arises.
example - about a year or so ago someone was trying to sell a signed Banksy Spray Can Cow Girl on the forum. everything seemed to be above board, but POW would not issue a COA even though they admitted it was genuine. I can't remember if they guy ever sold the print, but without the COA people were low balling him with offers.

have to agree, if you're dropping a few grand on a print or it's changed ownership then you have to be 100% IMHO.
buyer beware.....

This may have been covered in depth before but with Pest Control does anyone here know exactly how they verify the prints and just who is behind the Wizard of Oz curtain that is Pest Control?

With no COA I'd be very skeptical - what kind of prov is supplied?

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by Deleted on Apr 26, 2012 13:57:09 GMT 1, Let me get some advice, approaching this from the other side.
I have committed--assuming all paper trail is in order--to an unsigned early Banksy print that comes with COA. Before sending payment I contacted POW, Dora got back to me almost immediately, and said print is not registered to seller. Maybe it had changed hands and an owner never updated the file.
Dora asked for me to get names of previous owner(s)--to match with something in their database. Seller (with sterling ebay rep & possibly a forum member) did not know, got it from "some bloke" then later sent me a name (actually photo of perhaps the original COA recipient on A4 sized envelope).
I have forwarded this name to Dora and await her reply.
Does the provenance trail mean anything if there is a PC COA already issued? Can the COAs be forged? Any instances?
This would be my first Banksy, and I want the history tight as a mosquito's ass.
If I ever need to resell--which I hope to as I upgrade to a signed Banksy some day!--being an American living in Japan lots of people would not buy from me on those grounds alone. I need pristine documentation.
Am I being unreasonable here? What would you do?
Any and all opinions welcomed.
Thanks and Best.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by Deleted on Apr 26, 2012 14:09:25 GMT 1, Await Dora's reply and go from there. If she can't confirm details from the name and provided pictures (?) of the COA showing the numerics on the note, then best not proceed to be on the safe side.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by Deleted on Apr 26, 2012 14:26:24 GMT 1, ddawg, good point.
Photos from seller showed only the red typewriter information, close up and clear, but not the Di-Tenner and numbers written on.
Funny, Dora did not ask to see that.
Full size photos in original listing show complete COA, but too small to make out the numbering.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by Deleted on Apr 27, 2012 3:02:40 GMT 1, No, it's not. But thanks for bringing that up. Saw that listing a while back, kazzy. Looked suspicious and the feedback was spotty.
The seller on this print has great feedback, and some other nice pieces. Seems authentic. My records show I even got a Beejoir can a year or so back from him, people here might know his name.
Prefer not to give details, mainly for seller's privacy, etc.
Still no reply back from POW after submitting newest info. Unsettling to me after a couple immediate replies from Dora at the outset.
A big concern for me, again, is being a Yank living in Japan (Asia: Inscrutable Land of All Things Fake), I get grilled by potential buyers and need to have vivid airtight provenance.
Have an exquisite ZEVS CHANEL 2009--everything checks out, Lazarides blind stamp, crosschecked signatures with LV and H&S I have/had, seller--but would be jumping through hoops to sell that from here. I am trying to get some documentation help from Laz/Outsiders...nothing. Get better customer service in an American 7-11.
(I plan to not sell this print so point = moot, but that's my reality.)

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by linter on Apr 27, 2012 9:32:03 GMT 1, btw / why couldn't some lowlife or other buy a banksy with a COA and then run off copies of both and sell a good bunch of them as originals that way? i mean, if someone can make phony currency, how hard could it be to make phony COAs? Am I missing something here?

The first buyer will register their details with PoW to update the owner register, the second buyer will register their details with PoW to update the owner register, alarm bells will ring.

That makes sense, but the print I was looking at had not been registered by the current owner / seller, and looks like had not been by the owner before him.
In fact, the seller said it sounded strange to him that I would want it put into my name with POW upon purchase. That nowadays the PC COA is all anyone needs.
Do any of you who own pieces with PC COA also get the registration switched over to your name?
I clearly would want to do that.
