Indeed, it has leaped in popularity at an astonishing rate.  I heard an interesting comment from someone I respect who called it "the flower chucker of its day" which caught me by surprise.  I try to remove my bias and look objectively whenever possible; there is clear evidence throughout art history that the wider market pays a premium when artists reference work that influenced them in a manner which is not considered blatant plagiarism. 

If you remove the meaning/numbers/colors etc from that edition and simply take the image at face, I think this one does meet that description. It doesn't mean that students of that artist (like most here) don't have a strong preference for other images but it might explain some of the price shock against the backdrop of a wider audience which seems to have caught most/all of us by surprise over the past year. I believe it also explains some of the premium for Kate too though that one walks a finer line to my eyes with that description. My .02 while I avoid my Monday morning. Congrats on your sale gunny.
