Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by silvermyn on Sept 8, 2017 12:33:35 GMT 1, A lot of people will already be aware but I'll mention it anyway as it's not come up yet. If bidding from outside of the US please factor in the import taxes into your budget for this print. You might find that you just about managed to afford the top bid but then get a cripling bill from your domestic tax authorities on import. You would be better getting a friend to pick it up or jumping on a plane yourself. Quick US trip! Naturally. That's assuming you aren't caught and prosecuted of course

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by Quinnster on Sept 8, 2017 13:23:33 GMT 1, HAHA! I agree. Its also very extremely interesting to know there are still stockpiles of Banksy POW prints locked in some secret bunker somewhere. If only they'd let a few more out on the street. Would love to know what else they have stashed away. And going to a neat charity is cool.
They had a big clear out a few years ago, they were still holding quite a few old Banksys, although not all were mint condition.

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by anthonymarinos on Sept 8, 2017 15:43:06 GMT 1, I saw that a few of you were talking about the import fees and just thought I'd chime in to let you know that it's actually shipping from London (not the US). It's only listed as that because our auction is being run by eBay itself (based in California). If you're located in the UK, you shouldn't incur any of those charges.

You may want to further clarify this as your eBay ad says the item is "located in the United States".

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by Deleted on Sept 9, 2017 4:38:05 GMT 1, Below is a message I received on the piece and its location direct from the charity
As a pre-qualifier for the charity: water auction on eBay, we have some important updates to a couple listings we want to make you aware of. Banksy 1 of 1 Original Signed Print "Choose Your Weapon - Dark Purple AP/CW We have been informed that the Bansky print will be shipping from a Bansky representative in London, instead of the USA as stated in the listing. Shipping cost will still be free, however this means any international shipping from London will incur import fees that must be covered by the winner. Cathay Pacific Premium Economy Tickets and 3 Nights at the Kerry Hotel Hong Kong We would like to clarify that the winner will be responsible for any taxes on the flight. Thank you for your interest and support of charity: water. We apologize for any inconvenience these updates may cause, but would like to be as upfront as possible on any costs winners would incur. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Kind Regards, Catrina .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by Matt on Sept 9, 2017 22:42:35 GMT 1, It is says "unreleased colorway" but iirc, on top of the APs of the 25 colors, there was a small released series of 10 APs in Dark Purple and Dark Blue.
And for some reason I seem to remember there were more purple than blue ?
Does someone remember the numbers and how / when the APs were available ?

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by andyroo0312 on Sept 10, 2017 2:48:03 GMT 1, I would take it for 36k . So would I but I think it will go for a far bit more than that. There are some people even in the UK 🇬🇧 with some very deep pockets and empathise when it comes to a great cause. On the topic of water was watching a doco on Nat Geo I think titled 'Parched' a very disturbing view how big business controls water even in the most hard done by parts of the world. I guess it is similar to the great water robbery in Cali where private company's store water from the north and then sell it on at huge profits. I love almonds and Pistachios but no longer buy them from Cali. It's my way of reducing the Resnick family's and hedge fund managers their crazy profits margins while the little guy suffers not just in Cali but in less off countries like Fiji. P.s I think I am turning into a believer of social democracy or maybe I always was but just didn't know it due to all the smoke in the room

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by Dexter Bulldog on Sept 12, 2017 16:07:01 GMT 1, i think that was a good price for the buyer, and i think it was potentially not seen by a good chunk of buyers because no one is going to buy a banksy off of ebay, so why look in the first place. unless you knew about the charity and then this thread to see the proof its real, you wouldnt take an ebay auction seriously. had there been more eyeballs on it perhaps it would have gone higher?

To be precise the only thing unique about it is the numbering. There are other APs including in this colour.
That means approx 40k for a Choose Your Weapon AP. Neither a bargain nor a record, business as usual really...

Funny time of the day, pre approved bidding only, not making sure the listing had more detail regarding authenticity ... a number of factors could be apllied here

I was out of it for a bit, having stepped away from keeping up on the urban art market for a few years.
Business as usual, right now, makes me both giggle and throw up in my mouth a bit, both while slapping my forehead.
Prices, right now, for Banksy prints appear to have no historical tether. They appear to have no tether to reality either. I've never believed urban art to be unique and outside of the broader art and collectible markets. I've never considered it to be 'special' in a way that would defy precedents.
That being said, I'm often wrong more frequently than I am right and I've learned that I often fail to appreciate market forces. What I like and what the market likes have diverged greatly over the last ten years.
It's going to be very interesting to see this all play out over the next 5, 10, 20 years or so. I do very much like seeing that the faith and support of many forum OGs has been rewarded to this point.

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by jluhiex on Sept 12, 2017 16:37:38 GMT 1, Potential bargain for a US buyer. Considering this auction is held by a legitimate 501 3c non-profit you could get a sizable tax deduction making this a bargain...and lets face it anyone buying a piece of paper for 50k usd is getting taxed at the highest tax bracket.

Only the ammount above fair market value would be eligible for a charitable deduction.

I asked whether a signed appraisal would be provided to the winner of this auction, and received this response:
Good day-
As of right now, no appraisal will come with the item, only the COA. Your personal tax adviser will need to be consulted for any tax questions on this item.
Kind Regards, Matchfire
So technically the winner can find his own appraiser to sign off on a (way) below-market value appraisal, if he or she were so inclined...
