At 12pm Saturday 17th of October AMUTI 23 will be opening its doors for the first time on London's historic Cecil Court. Since it was first laid out in the 17th Centaury, filling in open land between St Martin's Lane and Leicester Square, by the descendants of Queen Elizabeth I's spymaster Robert Cecil, Cecil Court has always been a hub of cultural activity. Having once been the home of a Brandy Shop, whose clientele could be found "drinking, smoaking, and swearing, and running up and down Stairs till one or two in the Morning", that resulted in the street being razed to the ground 'The Court' has been inhabited by he Mozart family, was the birth place of Abraham Raimbach and David Wilkie, was the home of The Dome, the Aestheticist periodical, London's oldest bookshop to specialise in esoterica and is where Booksellers William and Gilbert Foyle, founders of the world famous Foyles, opened their first West End shop at 1904. Even our own No. 23 has historical importance as the scene of the first murder to be solved using identikit in the UK when is March 1961 Elsie Batten was stabbed to death. Her murderer, Edwin Bush, was identified and caught within days (he confessed and was hanged) following the circulation of identikit pictures.



It is with one eye on the past and looking to the future that we look forward to staking a claim on the landscape of Cecil Court by bringing our unique blend or cultural expertise and understanding blended with a little cheeky irreverence.


To celebrate the occasion the shop will be staffed during the day by a secret and select band of well known authors and artists,
and James Cauty will be signing 2 posters specially designed for the event.

A full set of Artist Proofs of Cauty's new BEST OF BRITISH stamps will be unvailed and exclusively available.

Cauty's Best Of British prints are great! Various serial killers on stamps with the number of their victims as the stamp value. I liked Fred West with Elton John glasses on ;D

The Jamie Reids were in the window and selling while I was in there so I'm not sure if any made it online?
