Jamie Reid "Sex Pistols Never Mind The B*llocks", by scottd007 on Jan 5, 2008 22:19:32 GMT 1, i've got an original 1977 poster signed/numbered by Jamie Reid (ltd.Edition of 50) Sex Pistols NMTB - I've had it framed but when the posters were stored they were obviously folded and not tightly rolled. As my framer has float mounted it the creases are visible. He tells me that the only way to avoid this is to dry mount it. Your opinons please!

Jamie Reid "Sex Pistols Never Mind The B*llocks", by bert on Jan 6, 2008 17:04:15 GMT 1, Folds on old posters look good I think - I collect movie posters and most pre 80s stuff is folded.
If you really don't like the folded look, have a look into linenbacking.

Jamie Reid "Sex Pistols Never Mind The B*llocks", by pezlow on Jan 6, 2008 17:56:09 GMT 1, Don't dry mount it for god's sake. Speak to a print restorer they may be able to get the folds out for you and it doesn't cost nearly as much as you think.

Jamie Reid "Sex Pistols Never Mind The B*llocks", by jonpud on Jan 7, 2008 9:54:40 GMT 1, I have one of these signed and numbered, mine too had been stored rolled (as they all were!) You have to remember this is 30 years old and who would have known at the time that they would become a collector's item!?
Having said all that they are in mint condition considering their age, the slight folds (not creases) add character to the poster IMO! Don't worry about it mate, that is a great framing job by the way must have cost a fortune.
I went to my local plastic firm and had 2 huge sheets of polycarbonate cut, bevelled and drilled all around the edges, I then used a male/female chrome fixing set to clamp them together, this obviously irons out the folds but I am sure if I took it apart they would reappear!
Seriously mate, don't worry about it, if you want a truely flat image then hunt out one of the 1997 Artificial prints, hard to come by but they are out there!!!
Will take some pics and post tomorrow!

Jamie Reid "Sex Pistols Never Mind The B*llocks", by bert on Jan 7, 2008 13:53:51 GMT 1, Aha, sorry, might have misread your first post, I thought your poster was folded when distributed.
Bert - what is linenbacking then?
Some info here - www.learnaboutmovieposters.com/newsite/INDEX/ARTICLES/linen.asp
It's a bit of a 'can of worms' topic, have a read the pros and cons section. I have a couple of linen backed posters, but also have some that are framed folded as the fold lines look fine to me (add to the feel and authenticity of an older poster).

Jamie Reid "Sex Pistols Never Mind The B*llocks", by scottd007 on Jan 7, 2008 17:53:16 GMT 1, Pud - Thanks, yes It did cost a lot to frame ,but who really needs 2 kidneys anyway! It was a nightmare to hang as well. It's on the wall that my stairs go up, ladders were no use - had to hold it, arms straight out from the landing! - It was like a sketch from only fools and horses!
Bert - Thanks for the link, I'm looking at the "folds" with different eyes now - you're right, they do add character!
