Mantis Print ๐ฌ๐ง Street Art โข Art For Sale, by BK83 on Jul 2, 2007 20:11:13 GMT 1, huh, apparently if you dont agree with someones taste in art you get a negative respect point. thats interesting. I was under the impression that graphic design art is subjective not objective. but thanks for letting me in on the little secret that we must give all artists on here congratulatory handjobs each time they release a print. I'll make sure to think up my best lie about the next print that comes out. oh, and I'll even make sure to bring extra lotion -- so no worries guys!

would have had to have been quick Hardcopy ;D, someone sabotaged the auction pretty soon after it was listed.

Dont worry about it. As long as you're honest in your opinions it'll work out in the end. Besides they dont actually mean anything. It's just a number. ;D

I've definitely seen this type of image a few other places.
Then again, its not often you find a really original image.

Mantis Print ๐ฌ๐ง Street Art โข Art For Sale, by corblimeylimey on Jul 3, 2007 13:46:59 GMT 1, Nice bit of Google work Nu
barkowitz.wordpress.com/2005/08/28/ring-around-the-rosie/
It's weird to see all the different words to the rhyme here in England it's
Ring-a-Ring-of-Roses A pocket full of posies Atichoo! Atichoo! We all fall down
from the BBC H2G2...
'Ring-a-Ring-a Roses' is a fine example of an apparently vacuous and harmless rhyme, sung by happy school kids perhaps ignorant of the song's central macabre topic - namely, the Bubonic Plague . The Bubonic Plague is more commonly known as 'The Black Death' and this horrific disease swept through Europe in the 14th Century, spreading from China, killing 25 million people in just under five years, between 1347 and 1352. Thereafter, the plague was endemic throughout Europe.
The rhyme details the effects of the plague on the sufferer. 'Ring-a-Ring-of-Roses' refers to the first sign of the onset of the disease. Before lesions would develop on the skin of those affected, small rings of red bruise-like marks would appear.
'A pocket full of posies' indirectly points to the fact that people didn't know that it is germs that cause disease, and not smells. It was a commonly-held belief that bad smells - so often associated with the open sewers of London's Thames area - were actually carrying the disease. As a caution therefore, doctors used to carry with them a pouch of sweet smelling flowers

Mantis Print ๐ฌ๐ง Street Art โข Art For Sale, by a4mnt on Jul 3, 2007 14:19:34 GMT 1, I'm in the middle on the red/no red debate.
Now I've seen it in the flesh, I love it as a white/grey/black/black print and am leaning towards thinking that red would somehow now not quite give it the impact that it has at the moment.
Maybe I'd be swayed the other way if a red version was to come out, but I'm hoping Mantis and Frankie won't consider that now (even though I would want one). I hope this print is done now, thats it, leave it to gain urban legend.
But overall, the more prints I get sent, the more I realise what a brilliant package this is, yes the tube is great and the coa looks pretty, but most importantly the print is on great paper with funky deckled edges and the Mantis in the top left - and of course the image is stunning.
With all the excitement of getting Dface WWAF and Mantis AFD in almost the same week, I'm wondering if it can get any better in the near future? Barring Banksy and Micallef releasing through POW, I doubt it.

Apparently the spread by rats bit is a bit of a fallacy too, the main culprits for spreading the plague were travellers. Luckily the Daily Mail wasn't around at the time to capitalise on the storey

Or it could be a rhyme to tell the story of the plague to children hundreds of years after the event.
