No the technique is simply using a photo as reference, like life drawing, I have it open on my 2nd monitor, then in my first monitor have a blank canvas in photoshop, i then sketch it out using a watercolor brush and layer it up until it's finished, it's not traced or has any photographic elements in it alt all, it's in essence a life drawing.
