Banksy • Barcode Print, by foundation on Feb 16, 2008 23:16:29 GMT 1, i dont know about 3 printers, never heard of that before, unless he's including the la printers? & some of rubadub's claims are, erm dubious, but the janes addiction thing is spot on, the foyer of the academy was plastered with them, upstairs & down, i'd guess inxs of a 100, what happened to them? who knows, the fact is they exist, & were produced as a promotional tool for banksy, & with the permission of pow/pymca. were there any othere instances of promo's?, i remember some liita's being given to a shop in covent garden to promote banksy, possible that this was common practice back in the day? 'Why have folk think you are an idiot...... buy a backdoor print and prove it' the idiot is not nessacarily the person who buys the promo/overun/backdoor print, but the idiot is definetly the person who authorised the printing of these things in the 1st place. blah blah yawn... and maybe MGM shouldnt have made films, then there wouldnt be pirate films kicking about... topics been covered several times in several places..... anyone wanting to spend several hundred quid on a print outwith the recognised run with no history is an idiot, hence the comment, I know you'll disagree as thats what you do RC. Please PM me if you want to discuss and disagree with everything I seem to write as everyone else finds it a bit dull now.

It's not unusual for promotional prints to be given away but they usually come with tight contracts regarding their disposal to prevent them from winding up on the secondary market.

Banksy • Barcode Print, by hlarmy on Feb 19, 2008 16:45:32 GMT 1, £3.5k for an unsigned print - I'm sure this is going to get some debate going (esp. considering the agro floating around the board at present) but I don't understand why someone would spend that kind of money on a piece unsigned? Please enlighten me....
I personally wouldn't spend more than £500 on an unsigned print as I'd rather but that kind of cash towards a signed version or an original from another artist!

- Because they didn't have the 10K+ for a signed one - Unsigned Barcodes don't come up for sale often - They days of 'affordable' Banksy's are long gone

Banksy • Barcode Print, by spanksy on Feb 19, 2008 17:04:49 GMT 1, i know it seems alot, but its all about the image really. you can say the same about signed prints, why would you pay an extra 10k just for a scribble in the bottom right corner. im not denying that sighed is a great addition its just if you dont have that sort of cash, unsigned makes sense.
if you like the image than some people arnt that botherd about the signiture. my 2cents
