Banksy • Barcode Print, by veralynn on Sept 5, 2009 18:48:07 GMT 1, Don't see any reason why these would command more (or less) than any unsigned older works to be honest. £2K+ for older unsigned work seems like a pipe dream with the odd exeption being GWB and Rude Copper and so on....

Tend to agree, probably an image that appeals more to male fans than other older prints as its more "masculine"

Banksy • Barcode Print, by Heavyconsumer on Sept 5, 2009 20:34:26 GMT 1, I reckon £1.5k might get you an unsigned these days if you can find one. Still my clear favourite of all his printed images. Wish I were able to spend that type of dough on a print, but alas, no. To be honest, the idea of dropping 4 figures on any unsigned print seems mad to me. However I guess if it's throw away money it makes no difference.
EDIT: Haha SNAP Richard.

Banksy • Barcode Print, by Richard on Sept 5, 2009 22:47:58 GMT 1, I think older unsigned Banksys are always going to carry more value than newer prints because so many got blue tacked to walls or put in shit frames with little care. Finding a mint Queen Vic, Rude Copper, Barcode etc will be pretty hard.
His older works (IMO) are better than his recent works...and over time I believe the unsigned older prints will fetch a premium over newer signed prints...
Barcode is a class print.

Really hard to guess signed prices at the moment. Realistic pricing may be £3k - £4k, but these are the same pieces that were double or more than that not long ago. I remember Art Republic trying to sell a Grin Reaper for around £8k or £9k last year, which was always an unrealistic price, but they weren't the only ones just cast back to the Andipa pricing.
If you look on ebay at what sellers are wanting there is an HMV for £10k, Flower Thrower £16k, signed Tenners (which has been there forever) £20k. I think there is a huge gap between what most owners think their pieces are currently worth and what people will pay.

It's all well and good saying realistically 3-4, but you try getting one. If you want one really badly you will have to pay what the seller is willing to accept or wait until one comes up for auction.
If the seller is not desperate to sell than you will struggle to get one for 3-4k. You will end up paying what the seller wants.
If one came up for a genuine auction on ebay i would sat £7k. Less in an auction house.

Banksy • Barcode Print, by craigf on Sept 6, 2009 10:22:14 GMT 1, Agree completely arahonomae hence the "may be £3k - £4k" following on from Veralynn's post and the point re being a gap between seller and buyers expectations. I have a few pieces that I should rotate (no signed early Banksy's), but don't want to sell in the current environment. I think there will be quite a few signed Banksy owners in the same place especially if they bought when they were at a peak

i think i'd tend to agree with you on that.
I'd guess at around 5k + at present - both due to ... scarcity popularity
last one i know of sold here for around 7.5k last year.

Banksy • Barcode Print, by sharesdjc on Sept 8, 2009 23:59:19 GMT 1, Yeah I agree the problem with this print doesn't seem to be its price but its scarcity, they hardly ever seem to come up which makes me want one even more! However dropping £2000 into an unsigned print hurts though, I'm not sure I could do it, even for barcode. Having said that if it does become an option I'd rather have barcode on my wall for years to come than any newer signed print...

I would certainly put in a call to Helium to see if they have one or any leads. I've never done any business with Artifical gallery but they have one on thier site too. I presume you've checked with Andipa and Laz? As to cost, your guess is probably better than mine. Good luck

I won't say which one, but I was quoted 17k gbp + on the mint barcode which is absurd in my mind. Which is why I was looking to buy privately or at least at auction...

Nothing wrong with countering what you are willing to pay (perhaps counter 6 willing to go to 6.5) and see what happens, no? You may be surprised how willing some dealers are to work to secure sales these days. Good luck

Banksy • Barcode Print, by veralynn on Sept 29, 2009 19:21:03 GMT 1, That represents a significant drop though right? £17K to £6.5K? Personally if someone was trying to punt something for £17K and they'd take £6.5K then I'd walk away on principle (unless I happened to be in a Morrocan Souk, in which case it would still be a piss take).
You should get quite a lot of bang for your buck for £6.5K and I'd imagine there are alternatives?
