Maybe because they have been over done, over priced and over hyped?

Nick Walker โข TMA New York, by Wearology on Feb 27, 2011 3:37:27 GMT 1, There are currently 16 of the 100 Nick Walker pieces sold in the United States already on the Bay. I also noticed that there are virtually no bids on any of these items. Maybe this print will be like the D'FACE Street Improvements, FAILE Vanity, FAILE Star Spangled, First Great Weston and many other prints that sold out very fast but never retained their value on the secondary market.

Nick Walker โข TMA New York, by mred on Feb 27, 2011 9:24:50 GMT 1, Well done to genuine fans who bagged a print and bad karma to those who took prints away from genuine fans. I suspect you will make a nice profit although hopefully people will see sense and hold off buying at some of the silly prices being asked.
Like all these releases, CYW being a massive example, there is so much hype things can get carried away. POW, Banksy, etc cannot and probably would not want to stop the hype so perceived demand is greater than supply.
As I would expect Nick was there for the true fans, really genuine guy who has over the years produced some outstanding work. The shirts sound interesting gets around my current lack of wall space. Nice gesture, haven't heard of Mr B doing this?
Seen Art-el and Nick in same room, although both got IMHO bad taste in hats be surprised if they are brothers although that said could be wrong as would never have guessed those two guys in twins were brothers. Thanks Art-el for keeping us updated.
I have put my hat into the lottery ring, I suspect with a lot of others, see whether my number comes up tonight.

Nick Walker โข TMA New York, by tonymontana on Feb 27, 2011 12:53:09 GMT 1, Over 15 now on ebay!!!! Hopefully the other 85 are in the hands of the fans. Good luck to all you guys in the lottery.
Having all of TMA series (so far), I am keen to add this great print to the collection - I think the best approach (unless I am uber lucky in the lottery) is to hold fire for a few months before biting the bullet on ebay.
Unsure if the above is the best strategy, I cannot remember how the pricing for the TMA Empire changed since released.
Looking at Nicks work as a whole do you guys see Nicks return to TMA as a progressive move? I prefer this type of art over his 'in gods we trust' route. Fingers crossed we will see TMA Sydney later this year.

Nick Walker โข TMA New York, by mmmike on Feb 27, 2011 13:38:58 GMT 1, I'm visiting NY and went yesterday around 10am. I counted around 60 people in line. The line was very spread out so lots of opportunities for people to sneak into the line. I was hungry and didn't feel like waiting for 5 hours with a great chance of not getting anything due to q jumpers so I went to eat. Glad I did had a great meal. Came back around 12. There was more than 100 in line. I went into the gallery and saw some of the APs there. They looked really good. There was one with some of the water cut out. It was a very cool effect. Another had hand painted water.
Nick was there just hanging out. I didn't talk to him because I didn't have anything to say. But seemed like a nice enough guy. So if there were hard core fans there they could have talked his ear off and had a cool experience if they were not too busy obsessing about the print.
I'm glad I got to check out his other work that was there. I was told the canvas pieces started at $12,000 so not for me. But I would have payed $12,000 before I would pay $5000 for the print, if that was what the flippers were selling them for.
Wish I could have got a print at cost but I didn't. I did have a great day in the city and went to the new museum amongst other things. They have a Condor print that I like but didn't get that either. So in the end I saved some money and had a great day. I'm only in the city for 2.5 days so glad I didn't spend half a day in line.

can you honestly say its like dface SI? not at all. i think its a very appealing piece, yea of course there are many on ebay but what else do you expect to happen, it happens with most releases that are popular images. and i do think this is a popular one. i hope to get one.
and you say first great weston never retained its value. but theres not many available so it has sentimental value surely. so in terms of that sort of value I would say its very successful. and people bought them for that reason. its like saying its not successful unless it has loads of ยฃ against it.
im not hyping, or maybe i am. if i dont get one, i do hope they do go below cost. but highly unlikely.

Nick Walker โข TMA New York, by joeschmo on Feb 27, 2011 19:23:35 GMT 1, It'll go up, and then come down. Nick Walkers work has been dropping like a stone in auction houses, too many big dealers and buyers were stung in the hype of it all, and what has Nicky given them since to reassure them? The same terrible un imaginative image over and over again to further dilute the market.

Can someone point out what work is exactly new in that show? Just looks like all rehashed old stuff. That exploding rat has been around for ages. Please don't say there was a moona lisa or mona simpson there as well as it would just top it off the hat trick

I'll make a bet with you that after the initial bum rush they'll drop in value like a stone year after year.
