I too,thought it looked more of a grey/silver and mine is more like a beige/gold. Looks great in person though. |

A solo show by Skewville
Identity
is one of the most inherent forces on the planet. It defines everything
about us: our culture, language, style, beliefs, personality and more.
It demonstrates both our outward perception and inward analysis. For
the most part, we each face this journey of personal discovery alone as
our identity is further shaped and molded by our external experiences
throughout life. Yet, in many instances, there are those of us who
share a physical appearance with an identical twin. The discovery of
personal identity encompasses a far reaching duality that resonates
strongly with both twins, as they embark in life. Mighty Tanaka is
pleased to bring you our next exhibition entitled, Sucks Either Way, a solo show by Ad Deville of legendary Street Art twin duo, Skewville. His art expresses the relationship between him and his twin brother and the duality that they are both confronted with.
Sucks Either Way is not necessarily pertaining the anything bad, however, it is quite the opposite. Growing up, Skewville
developed a strong sense of skepticism, dismissing his mothers notion
of โLooking on the Bright Sideโ. Through this, he identified that he
could never really be disappointed with anything if he only expected
negativity. That way, when good things did happen, he could always be
pleasantly surprised by the outcome. The internal duel between optimism
and pessimism has shaped Skewvilleโs identity and created the foundation for his art.
Using a plethora of scrap materials and mediums, Skewville
has created a new body of work for the show that expresses his
sarcastic approach to life. With a mixture of New York City attitude
and ironic humor, Sucks Either Way demonstrates the personal duality that Ad Deville faces on a daily basis.
