FAILE: Wood Faile Flags and Scuba Horse Bronzes, by Zippy on Mar 31, 2011 19:09:35 GMT 1, I am not a huge fan of the image and would not want the flag hanging on my wall. I also think $9k is a lot for an Ed of 20 - however they might differ slightly.
BUT.. a friend of mine has a Faile piece of wooden blocks painted and set / welded in a tray. It is quite possibly one of the best pieces of art i have ever seen. I think it came from the Perry Rubenstein show. It is incredibly heavy - 2 of us had to lift it - and the detail and finishing is brilliant.
Do not judge this piece by a few pics posted on the interweb as I am sure it will be an amazing piece to touch and see the detail. I could not afford to buy one and would expect the postage and duty to add a fair whack on the price.

FAILE: Wood Faile Flags and Scuba Horse Bronzes, by mmmike on Mar 31, 2011 19:32:36 GMT 1, I agree and if I were Faile I would try to get paid as well. I'm not mad at them at all. I'm just saying just because you have more money doesn't mean you will appreciate the art any more. dont get what your saying? you love bansys art right, yes? spend half your life on this forum bigging him up? yes? (time could be better spent with family and friends) yet you have no chance of ever owning an original. but you dont complain?
I like Banksy and also like Faile. I enjoy spending time checking out the forum because I like the art and I like the economics of it all. I likely will never buy a Bnaksy original (or Faile) and I don't complain about it. What's your point?
All I said was money does not equal art appreciation. Not sure what you don't understand?

...had a look at some of these block-set o/g's in the steel trays upstairs at Laz today Zip, including the original of 'Launch Tonight' (called '86 Words' which is blue and HUGE), and my favourite 'Sub Rosa' (actually called 'Lost In a Dream'). Prices way out of my league, but the detail is astonishing.

FAILE: Wood Faile Flags and Scuba Horse Bronzes, by meatbag on Mar 31, 2011 21:50:07 GMT 1, i love them and would definitely grab if I had the loot. I have a block piece original and it's definitely my favorite piece in my collection. It's a wee bit more then expected but as RBK said it ensures these end up in the hands of true collectors. From what I've seen first hand the detail and craftsmanship is real nice.

FAILE: Wood Faile Flags and Scuba Horse Bronzes, by afroken on Mar 31, 2011 22:19:51 GMT 1, People should feel happy that they were there at the inception of an illustrious career and able to support an artist to get to where they are. Rather than giving Faile a hard time for their success perhaps a more positive approach would be to use one's humble means to focus on the next big talent coming up through the ranks. Plenty of it out there. It's what makes the world go round.

FAILE: Wood Faile Flags and Scuba Horse Bronzes, by Deleted on Mar 31, 2011 22:26:28 GMT 1, I'm not saying I like the prices but I'm not surprised. They still have the "cheap" stuff for the masses like the blocks. Cheap stuff for the masses, yeah.. cos that's what street art is all about, The pound shop of contemporary art ! Worse print Faile ever made. 20 of em, on wood. For 9k. Pfft. Jasper Johns it ain't.
well said

FAILE: Wood Faile Flags and Scuba Horse Bronzes, by Happy Shopper on Apr 1, 2011 7:17:42 GMT 1, If I had 9k to blow on a piece or art, by artists I love, I'd snap this flag up. More or less an original faile, and not 20k! In a funny way it's a bargain. 12k for the scuba horse is what I find overpriced.

FAILE: Wood Faile Flags and Scuba Horse Bronzes, by murdock on Apr 1, 2011 8:43:45 GMT 1, I'd argue Faile's prices are the most well thought out in the scene. They price their work as best they can to the market. Deterring flippers/speculators is a great thing at this point in their career. They don't need to ride hype and make a potential quick profit the focus of their art. I'm sure they would rather these sell out slowly to be in top collections where they are going to stay. And NO - I didn't buy anything today.

FAILE: Wood Faile Flags and Scuba Horse Bronzes, by edcase on Apr 1, 2011 12:20:02 GMT 1, Why is it that whenever you spend a big chunk of money on a piece of art, something invariably comes out or available a couple of days later as if to taunt you 'look what you could have had?'.
Each to their own, but this is to my eye bloody fantastic and reasonably priced when you look at the price of large boxes etc. if I hadn't just made a big purchase I would be all over one of these.

FAILE: Wood Faile Flags and Scuba Horse Bronzes, by edcase on Apr 1, 2011 15:14:45 GMT 1, Yes, me, and I can assure you I'm in my right mind!
Auctions are auctions, primary is primary.
The second piece you posted is absolutely fantastic, but certainly in my world $6,000 is not 'a little bit more'. Plus that is the hammer price, not including commission.

FAILE: Wood Faile Flags and Scuba Horse Bronzes, by volvic on Apr 4, 2011 20:20:51 GMT 1, slow and steady wins the race... and considering they were $9000 each and they sold out in a matter of days i would say thats pretty good going, and priced perfectly for failes market.
