Most of the colleges are open to the public, although some charge- Christchurch for instance. If you're feeling tight then try St. John's college, it's free and the Canterbury Quad and the College gardens are very beautiful.
There are also lots of pleasant villages nearby. Iffley is about 45 minutes walk from the centre or you could try walking to The Perch. It's out past Jericho and along the canal. Gorgeous setting and great food.
If you're looking for something a little less monocultural try Cowley road, lots of interesting shops/ food and take away places as well as live music. the zodiac (or Carling Academy) regularly has decent bands- I saw midlake there about a year ago

I learned the kebab lesson last time I went, actually kebabs have been trying to teach me that lesson in most of England and France over the past few years. One day I will find a kebab that will be all worth it though I'm sure.

If it's sunny and you've got 'company' you can't go too wrong with a bit of punting on the river. Can be a bit of a laugh.
For something to do in the evening it might be worth popping into G&D Ice Creams on Little Clarendon St. to see if there are any events being advertised on their 'community' board (gigs/plays etc).
