Banksy Grin Reaper Print, by ignatius2102 on Jan 13, 2008 23:42:48 GMT 1, We all know that banksys come in four forms. Original grafetti/installation, Original on for auction, ltd print signed and finally ltd print. I believe that there is one exception to this and that is the piece found in the pax brittanica box set. This is part of an edition of the box set of 100. However each one of the banksy pieces is unique. They seem to have been done with ink blocks and/or ink stencils. They were obviously done by the artists own hand and due to the method are all different. They are not themselves numbered and so were never meant to be seen as part of an 'edition'. They are all signed. Given all of this what is their status. They clearly aren't in the same bracket as the ltd signed prints of 150 but they can't be viewed as original pieces for auction. I have spoken to the Tom Tom Gallery and Sothebys on this matter and they both agree that this is a difficult piece. LazInc were evasive when I contacted them. The catagorisation of this piece will have a profound effect upon any valuation.
Anyone got any thoughts?

Banksy Grin Reaper Print, by morrissey1 on Jan 13, 2008 23:47:13 GMT 1, Removed from the set of prints, standing alone, even though it's signed, still....its small, and not extremely popular.....if you can get for the price of an average signed Banksy (some of the newer releases pricing)..then it may be worth it, but still......I would be careful with that one......the whole set on the other hand..that would be worth a good time

Banksy Grin Reaper Print, by BME on Jan 14, 2008 0:42:59 GMT 1, I think that the Aquarium produced 96 sets. Some of the earlier sets included a Cauty image that was subequently removed (as a result of legal action from royal mail I think). Also work by the likes of Gee Vaucher and Ralph Steadman from memory. They are all Giclee prints. The prints themselves are small (A4 ish). It would be lovely to have the set but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy the Banksy by itself. There's a full set on auctionsaboteur for the fairly hefty price of 20k if you're feeling rich and fancy free. By itself I don't think that the Banksy would fetch more than 3k currently. Although, I haven't seen one on ebay for a while so it could go for more.

Banksy Grin Reaper Print, by oneeye on Jan 14, 2008 7:47:41 GMT 1, The fact that less than 100 of these exist makes it the most rare Banksy next to Kate and Radar Rat, no? I could only imagine the scarcity of Wrong War would be highly enticing for a hard core collector.
I don't think 5K seems unrealistic.

Banksy Grin Reaper Print, by Rude Copper on Jan 14, 2008 9:25:30 GMT 1, soupcan colouways, flags on laminate, despite its collectibility, its not a great print, it kinda looks cheap in the flesh, & in honesty, apart from the kennard, theres nothing in the box worth having. 5k at a push.

Kate, radar rat don't compare to this little number. 5k for the print alone is unrealistic imo. For the complete set then 5k could and i think has been achieved. Christ with shopping bags was 82. anything else sub 100?
Doesn't strictly count, but the 'special edition' of Trolleys from SG07 could claim to be less than 100. Thin ice maybe.

Banksy Grin Reaper Print, by robbsutt on Jan 14, 2008 16:47:04 GMT 1, I must admit that after seeing these little bad boys framed up properly, I've developed quite an appreciation for them. The sub 100 edition size is a sweet bonus. At least for me, it makes it feel much more special of a piece.

I wanted the Wrong War but was really disappointed when I saw it in the flesh, very small and poor quality, nice set to own though with so many being split, but still think 5k is as much as you should pay! (TOPS!!!!!)
