The £50 Art Thread, by randomname on Jan 13, 2014 17:05:46 GMT 1, This is pretty cool.
Dad spends 7 years on incredibly detailed maze.
Some people have hobbies. Other people are obsessive. But when the two cross paths, this is what you get. Japanese twitter user @kya7y recently unearthed an incredibly detailed maze that her father created almost 30 years ago. When pressed for details, the father explained that he spent 7 years creating the map on A1 size paper, which is about 33 x 23 inches.
People have been asking @kya7y about her father. Everyone seems to want to know more about the man behind this amazing maze. This morning she wrote, “Where does my father work? At a public university!! In the athletic department!!! As a janitor.”
Available here for $40.

The £50 Art Thread, by Someones Brain on Jan 16, 2014 15:28:10 GMT 1, Max, I hope you don't mind some critical comments. I really like what you did with e.g. "Bloom" or "Gun Crazy" or "Pure O". I even used a pic of the blue side of "Gun Crazy" as a desktop background for quite some time and it got lots of positive comments. But I cannot connect at all to those wavy red/blue/black/white lines in your more recent paintings. They somehow remind me of japanese wood cuts and that just doesn't come together for me. Maybe I'm strange ... but I thought you might like to know. If not, forget what I said.

The lines are indeed inspired by Ukiyo-e style Japanese print works and were meant as a contrast so I guess in a way it kind of worked?! These are the last in that particular style, as I'm trying to move in to some different techniques.
Thanks again for your feedback. Max.

With regard to thoses lines: As you intentionally "quoted" the japanese print style it obviously worked. Still I'm more a fan of your "older" works. Though I'm curious to see in which way your techniques develop.

The £50 Art Thread, by nosignofland on Jan 24, 2014 6:09:51 GMT 1, Nosego has a new print, and it's cheaper -- albeit a bit smaller -- than the print that accompanied his exhibition last month with Curiot.
It's $40 (plus $8 shipping), and you can get them right here. There can't be that many left; I got mine about a week ago, and it was numbered in the 20s. It's an edition of 50. Love Nosego.
