The £50 Art Thread, by Sanscript on Jul 23, 2016 14:54:39 GMT 1, As mentioned in this thread, I am going through my artworks and I have to sell off any pieces on wood or canvas as I can no longer store them.
I had a bit of an Adam Isaac Jackson and Mike Giant moment a while back, experimenting with simple black and white images of girls with tattoos.
I wanted to create intentionally basic flat images, but images that are actually complicated in their own right. They are complicated in that I wanted to stencil and paint the image, on one layer.
I redrew a photo of an Irezumi girl by hand, and reduced the complexity of photo to one layer.
The nature of one layer stencils means that every element within the artwork has to be either an island or a bridge so that the entire photo/image holds together, so that the paper holds together, and can be sprayed in one go, as one contact sheet.
It took some time, the prep and drawing and cutting, but in the end it worked.
This artwork is a one layer hand drawn hand cut stencil, spray painted on plywood. It is A2 in size.
This is an edition of 1 on plywood.
I think this would look good framed or float hung on a wall.
For Sale @ £40 - including postage to the UK Mainland. Postage overseas can be arranged.

She used to paint quite a lot and had her works in galleries, she still has some screen prints in galleries at the moment. She draws inspiration from Georgia O'keeffe. She has some paintings that she said she was going to throw away because we now have nowhere to keep them. I said that I could see if anybody here might be interested in them? They are beautiful in the flesh and it would be such a shame for them to not end up on someone's wall. These are hand painted in acrylic on deep edge canvas, the canvas measures 122cm by 30cm by 4cm. We spent the weekend going through the stuff in our workshop during our downsize exercise. We sold a few paintings, we gave some artworks away to friends, but we still have these big beautiful hand painted canvases left that my partner and I created a little while ago.
These are all 120cm long.
Just I cant bear to throw them away, but we will be doing a 'tip' run this week and some items will have to go.
Make me an offer if you want - I dont mind.
£50 each including postage to the UK Mainland.

The Piece is called The Morrigan and is named after the Irish goddess of death and war. This piece was originally exhibited in Bristol for an exhibition called WarHead.
The Morrigan is a 4 colour screen print onto fabriano paper and measures 42 x 60 cm
It is an edition of 5

These A5/6 unique Originals will be £40 - £50.
As with passing thoughts and experiences, the Wall of Cards is not a single image, but a whole made from many parts.
Drawn, mainly in transit, on antique books, recycled documents, envelopes, flyers and discarded packaging the found images serve as a jumping off point for intuitive imagining and instinctual journeying, revealing the innermost thoughts of the artist.
A visual diary of the subconscious, they serve as reflections of the essence of human emotion.
The Wall of Cards is a patchwork of imagery, a modular quilt of experiences. With all the individual works being available for sale separately the viewer is invited to create their own narrative and curate their own composition.
With new works being added and taken away each time it appears the Wall of Cards is never displayed in the same form twice.
