Show everyone your latest Art Purchase?, by Strange Al on Sept 8, 2007 12:59:33 GMT 1, Misnomer - love your Ralph Steadman. Very nice indeed. Incidentally, I think the existing frame suits the print very well. cheers! colour-wise it's good but the print is touching the glass - Bad want to remedy that and get a plain, (i.e non-patterned) and deeper frame
That does need to be remedied.
Though I like the patterned frame - the slightly gothic feel works well with the print imo.

They look like Audrey Kawasaki to me: www.audrey-kawasaki.com/2007/index.php
Who is currently showing at: www.gallerynucleus.com/
Edit - so they're Amy Sol. Interesting - very similar styles.

know what you mean, but in the flesh, although it's wood it looks a bit plasticy. The other option is some rather more F**ked up & stained wood (properly sealed & lined etc) in keeping with the brushstokes.
If it wasn't for the glass issue I'd ponder it for a while but I'm a bit bugged by that and don't want to leave it, as is, for long.
PM'd misterframeman we'll see what ideas he has

Show everyone your latest Art Purchase?, by easycraig on Sept 8, 2007 18:29:38 GMT 1, crackawacka - the artist is Amy Sol... - thank you for the kind words.. -she is one of the few artist that my wife will let me hang in the house. The frames were cheapie wood frames from a local chain framing store (Aaron Bros. in the States) - best thing about them is they came with the mat... and I have a mat cutter so I just cut them to size... - I think the cost for both frames total was under $20. (during their buy 1 get 1 free sale).

Show everyone your latest Art Purchase?, by a4mnt on Sept 8, 2007 19:38:28 GMT 1, I really like the Mode2 stuff, just never got round to buying any.
I really like 3roomstairs, but just couldn't imagine where i would hang it. Its one of those things if you buy it with a partner and you both like it, then the sexualness of the image is enjoyed between the two of you. But if I bought it, I couldn't really hang a pic of a bloke licking a woman out from behind as she clambers up the stairs, in my living room (i don't think i could anyway), so it would have to go in my bedroom, which suits me, but when i bring a woman home, its going to go one of two ways what she thinks about it.....its either oi oi, i'm in luck here, or let me the fuck out this guy is a pervert.
Maybe i should get one of those originals from Laz then....

Show everyone your latest Art Purchase?, by misnomer on Sept 8, 2007 19:56:54 GMT 1, the originals painted on fabric, at Laz, are great. They're pretty large tho, so they would kinda dominate a bedroom....
personally not so keen on the prints I've seen
mind, I've not seen sign of anything new from him for a good while, or am I just looking at the wrong sites

Manty - that's a great little collection. Nice simple framing too.
The two of you have spent some serious money on art recently.

I get that but I would like to see more photos of the artwork in the context of the homes where they live. Decor is key, we have all seen the prints, people might as well just list what they have.

wisp - i guess we're as much checking out the frames and how they work with different prints for ideas. but i know what you mean about settings, so here is my living room again. i only posted them a couple of pages back, but i've just spent a few weeks building the cupboards either side of the fireplace (spent most of that time nattering on here), so i'm happy to show the pics again.
i get Minotaur Weapon and Guy Denning untitled/typeface back on Monday, as well as hopefully collecting my Logan Hicks original, so will have some new stuff to show in situ.
;D
Yes, i've straightened up The Hick now and will most likely move the Hewletts out and hang something a bit more substantial either side of the fireplace soon.
Hope this satisfies your curiosity for seeing into other peoples houses Wisp.
