Show everyone your latest Art Purchase?, by hkbgr8 on Mar 19, 2023 16:23:53 GMT 1, Did anyone else hop on the flog bandwagon? First saw him in Vertical galleryโs booth in Miami. I was able to get a piece from his recent solo show at exclusive urban art and I love it. I will probably never sell it. Stunning in person. Personally I can see this turning into some truly crazy art, or another copy paste like Martin and Sandra have been recently. I am curious as to others opinions on the artist? I like Flog, am on his list for a commission. I think he has nice and creative ideas, I hope he experiments outside of the glass boy. Be interesting to see what he can produce outside of that character, otherwise he may string along the lines of Matt Dixon and his robot character. Which is not a bad thing, but might end up being a MW or SC in its own kind of way. Maybe heโll make us some glass girls to keep our lads company !
i do agree though, I saw the first show he did with Exclusive Urban, and he was able to draw animals fairly well too. I think he has potential to create some truly unique work as I was saying before. However, I agree with you, if he sticks with the current figure he may get stale. Excited to see!

Personally I can see this turning into some truly crazy art, or another copy paste like Martin and Sandra have been recently. I am curious as to others opinions on the artist? I love Flog. I think he has NOTHING but upside (and yes I am a modest collector - 2 pieces). I see him as a blur between Seth, Pichiavo, maybe a bit of Gris1. The dreamer aspect of it is great. I have seen versions with girls. He has had I think 2 full solo shows with a few more on the near term calendar. I think he is on the roster for Vertical's anniversary show. His pieces are selling out in minutes and still REALLY affordable. Even at 2-3x the price they would be affordable. I do not think he has to change the character. Just keep finding dreams to paint and new collectors which are plenty - from the speed of sell outs I think it will be a while before he plateaus.

Ambivalence from me about this piece by Nick Smith.
I was never a fan of the original film character. Yet that choice of subject matter does add interest by the very fact it is odd.
If a fellow member could post a photo of the Mr Brainwash source artwork being referenced, it would be appreciated. My Google searches thus far were failures.
I'm familiar with most of the composite images by Brainwash with Marilyn Monroe's hair โ featuring the likes of Andy Warhol, Angelina Jolie, Spock from Star Trek, etc.
But I did not previously know he also made one of Mr. Yunioshi from Breakfast at Tiffany's.

For the price you pay for a 36 inch by 28 inch Flog original, why not spend that amount on a 72 inch by 72 inch BFA/MFA original that will be exhibiting at Harpers/Karma/The Hole/M+B/Shrine/Grimm/Workplace/Anat Ebgi in 2024?
