I don't think Kazuki Takamatsu's been referenced in this thread. I first saw one of his pieces at a group show at Roq La Rue and it blew me away. I don't think there's anyway JPGs do his work justice. In person, it's incredibly 3D/ethereal/ghostly...never seen anything like it. I'm guessing others have picked up on this as well as I responded to the buyer's preview for his upcoming Corey Helford show yesterday 8 minutes after it went out and all but three pieces were already spoken for.

I watched a programme about him recently. He made an interesting, if somewhat uncomfortable, comment about art collectors:
"It has changed so much in the last 10, 15, 20 years. Today many collectors, they like to believe in the industry of art as an industry for investment. Before it was this idea of a collector as someone with knowledge, taste and guts, somehow. Today collectors, they have very little knowledge, normally bad taste, and no guts, just money"
