Artists You Might Not Know, by Deleted on Oct 5, 2014 18:04:24 GMT 1, I have liked Adams work for a few years, and recently bought an AP of Flag Kid from him through Art finder. He sent me a free smaller print, and hand written note with it, which was very kind of him. It's professionally framed and up. I wish him the very best of luck, and continue to keep an eye on his work.

Artists You Might Not Know, by dreadnatty on Oct 9, 2014 0:39:08 GMT 1, Wonderful Pencil Drawings by Stefan Zsaitsits
Austrian artist Stefan Zsaitsits creates strange but wonderful pencil drawings of human figures and storybook characters; they’re almost reminiscent of a child’s dream. There must be a meaning behind Stefan’s drawings that his audience can dissect. In his new drawings, Stefan portrays children and what they dream of. Most of Stefan’s illustrations appeared in different exhibits and publications.

Artists You Might Not Know, by met on Nov 11, 2014 5:57:11 GMT 1, This guy is pretty interesting. His name is Seung-Hwan Oh. He's a Korean photographer. He intentionally grows mold on his negatives to degrade them then prints (or scans in) the results. I contacted him about prints if anyone is interested. Each image is available in three different sizes (all ink jet prints). Each size is a series of five. All are still available. Which isn't too surprising giving the price. 100x100cm $3,000 125x125cm $4,000 150x150cm $5,000 [...] [...]
Thank you for this. I hadn't spotted the original post, only the one quoted today by cmodart.
Pretty interesting, as you say. Though I feel the idea is perhaps stronger than the end results — which generally seem over-saturated and overworked by the artist. Guilty, not necessarily of trying too hard, but perhaps giving the impression of trying too hard. Just like all those young women you see in the streets with their jeans that have been meticulously sliced open at the knees.
The piece which appeals to me most is the one above. As someone drawn to a lot of Robert Longo's work, I do love images of contorted, distorted, besuited individuals.
What I'm uncertain about is how long works like this would remain interesting to me.
Over time I fear I'd dismiss the artistic process as a contrivance. As gimmicky, embarrassing. And arguably superficial — even profoundly so. [Actually, this is how I feel about another artist currently being hyped despite having merely average skills. Her output seems restricted to painted portraits of women (inevitably all very young and beautiful) combined with collage elements sourced from superhero comic books. Ideal ingredients for that teenage-boy or man-child market, with a convincing artist statement thrown in for added credibility.]
