Inside Artist Studios, by alexnh123 on Dec 4, 2010 20:31:35 GMT 1, Hi, I have looked around if this tread already exists but could not find it. so sorry if it does. This tread is for pics of your studio, working place or place of madness here is mine: (sorry thatr its so big ) I would LOVE to see yours!
nice thread idea, though this studio space strikes me as being quite bare, soulless and a bit lifeless. I don't get any feel for the artist, or the artist's inspiration, neither am i inspired by the space. It strikes me as quite a new space, works arranged in quite a contrived fashion, perhaps it is a new space, i'm not familiar with the artist at all so perhaps this is a new space? it just feels a bit staged....

Inside Artist Studios, by deckstar on Dec 4, 2010 21:51:26 GMT 1, Alex Fake is a very talented artist from Amsterdam, he has done some big scale projects with us over in Bristol for Upfest. A quick look on flickr will show some of his work. www.flickr.com/groups/823091@N22/
If i had one word to sum up fake it would be precision, hence why his studio is probably as it is.
plus i know he had a flood recently there so also may contribute
Upfest piece this year

Inside Artist Studios, by notworthit on Dec 4, 2010 22:28:11 GMT 1, alright fake, we get the idea; this thread is all about YOU!!! It all seems to be a justification for you to show off your boring space, no matter how many updates you give us! Most of the other studios on here show far more integrity than yours, and based on what you've managed to do in that space i don't think this shows you in a particularly inspiring or impressive light. The only thing bigger than your studio is your ego! Roll on the serious guys knocking away in there small spaces; so much richer.
Wow, that was a bit harsh, think you need to get over yourself a bit.
6 pages of this thread and everyone but you seems to like it.

Inside Artist Studios, by alexnh123 on Dec 4, 2010 22:52:31 GMT 1, just some thoughts. People seem to be very easy to please on this forum at times. If fake was that credible i don't think he'd have an account on the banksy forum and be plugging himself in the way that he has (i mean; i don't see the greats doing that, do you?). The empty can rattles the most. Sure there are lots of people who share my thoughts; they just choose not to comment for whatever reason. Perhaps i don't come across as that tactful most of the time, but you gotta take the rough with the smooth. There are too many people taking themselves too seriously as wannabe repetative jimmi hendrix stencilling 'artists' perhaps the 'getting over ones self' should start with them notworthit. To be honest, i find this forum a little sickly at times, this forum is to debate right??

Inside Artist Studios, by Replete on Jan 7, 2011 18:57:51 GMT 1, Here's where the "magic" happens. It's a work in progress:
circa 2008
circa today
It like my digital hub, yah.
I find artist's studios that are clean and tidy somewhat perplexing and alien.
As Francis Bacon said "Chaos breeds images".

Inside Artist Studios, by Replete on Jan 7, 2011 20:07:20 GMT 1, well it is a pretty tramp's nest.
When the house finally crumbles away in a decade or so it'll probably remain as a self contained cube of solid spraypaint, arcylic, canvas, paper, gaffer tape and assorted grime mounted atop a rubble pile as monument to one man's spiral into self indulgent entropy.

Anyway, on the subject of artists studios, its worth checking out the sculptures of Joe Fig. He creates minatues of artists studios. Some are quite interesting.

Maybe, in which case I hope it comes back now the awards are over. A place for new artists, and established ones, to show what they are working on is so important, and was an intergral part of this forum imo.
