Regrets, I've had a few., by Deleted on Jan 22, 2011 22:32:20 GMT 1, I once drank a bottle of Port Ellen Whisky with some friends that I got from my grandfather when I turned 18, he had it for a very long time and never tasted it, he hated whisky, I knew nothing about the stuff, just liked the taste.. in the meantime the distellery burned completely.. and prices went up.. drank a 500 euro bottle that evening..
well.. it was a fun evening. But in retrospect I could have saved some for a more special occasion.
or was it only art related?
David Choe city girl 76..
well.. it was a nice whisky.

Regrets, I've had a few., by easycraig on Jan 22, 2011 23:04:06 GMT 1, I often think about when I called my buddie and said " Lets go see Joe Strummer down at the Troubadour" - Joe was playing with the Mescaleros... and my buddie was worried he would play a bunch of stuff he had never heard..... so we passed on the show.... i then ran into a guy who went to the show and he said it was great! -he did play several clash tunes.... - so i was a bit bummed.... then of course, Joe passed away 1/2 a year later or so.... have regretted it since.. ( i was lucky enough to see the Clash 4 times... so i really cannot complain... ) -but missing that last one really hurt. ec

Regrets, I've had a few., by Harveyn on Jan 22, 2011 23:26:10 GMT 1, I like the non art and art posts on this thread so lets keep the subject matter open to the individuals choice.
I was very fortunate to have caught the Clash live at the Ulster Hall. Unfortunately Mick Jones had taken his leave at that stage (caught him years later with Big Audio Dynamite at the same venue). A guy whom I new back in those days made it up on stage fully expecting to be drag to one side as per all others. He happened to play in a local band and just also happened to be the absolute double of Mick Jones (a very young one). To the surprise of the guys who came to drag him away Joe Strummer waved them away and walked him to the back of the stage with his arm around his shoulder.
Then they walked to the front of the stage and proceeded to sing the most beautiful duet of Bank-robber I have ever heard. I believe to this day he still lives off this story.

Regrets, I've had a few., by moleman on Jan 23, 2011 0:39:28 GMT 1, I have/ had a stash of booze waiting for a special day.
A special day will come but as to will a special tipple.
Drink in jest with friends enjoy what you can as tomorrow is but another party. I just opened a special bottle 30 years old with friends we won't drink it all but in the morning it will still be a great night.
My biggest regret is thinking my friend will make it through the night, giving me the chance to say I love you one more time to him as he will be fine.
But unlike a bottle of whisky I can never take that back.
Rest in peace My friend

Regrets, I've had a few., by jonvespa on Jan 23, 2011 2:03:50 GMT 1, A few regrets: 1. regret not buying a banks OG at the LA show...even though (at that moment) had the cash. 2. trading my star wars figures for a bike (i was 11) 3. not buying the Invader pirate original for $1500....i had just bought another Invader OG for $1000 and thought $1500 was a bit steep at the time....its still the best Invader I've ever seen.... 4. missing Nirvana on a New Years Show in the early '90's.
A few things I am HAPPY I didn't miss: 1. Seeing The Smiths on the Meat is Murder Tour 2. Buying 4 out of my 6 Banks prints at retail 3. Buying an Invader OG 4. Getting the black four foot Kaws dissected at retail direct 5. Seeing Joe Strummer at Hootenanny a few months before he died.
Bands I have been MORE than fortunate to book in my life: 1. Mars Volta's first show ever 2. Jesus and Marychain 3. Glassjaw (three times) 4. Unbroken reunion 5. Crowded House 6. Love and Rockets 7. The Coachella 2011 secret shows (to be announced, hehe).

Regrets, I've had a few., by Baurmann Gallery on Jan 23, 2011 6:40:11 GMT 1, On a more serious note:
Regret and remorse are another interesting sub-topic of discourse within this larger discussion in my opinion.
Regret is something we all seem to experience, in some capacity or form. Itโs usually dealing with some action(s) that caused an adverse reaction or circumstance to occur. Regret in my opinion is not always a bad thing to analyze and understand, as it can often lead to better decisions in the future and prevent bigger potential regrets (if the past mistake are learned from).
Regret can also sometimes be very emotional and/or hard to move past or on from, to which remorse sometimes seems a better classification of what is being experienced (in my opinion). This is not always the case though, as someone can have deep emotional regret over an action but it does not always means they are remorseful over it too.
Itโs also not to say regret is not emotional or does not have a deep impact on people or their actions, I just think regret can sometimes be transformed more constructively & much easier than an action you are remorseful over (versus regretful).
Remorse is often felt on a much deeper emotional level (in my opinion) and sometimes is harder for people to move on from (in terms of not dwelling over 24/7) than regret, though remorse sometime is (also too) that major kick in the ass moment that causes someone to change drastically for the better or prevent an even more catastrophic event/action from potentially occurring in the future (if lessons are learned [& changes made] from that remorse).
Obviously those are very generalized statements to which points can be made both for & against, I just think Harveyn brought up a very interesting discussion on something that can occur or happen in countless forms but is simplified a bit in terms of giving the analogy of art (and/or missed art purchases), to which I think is something we can all relate on a multitude of levels.
With regret and remorse alike though, one thing I do believe strongly in is you may not be able to change yesterday, but what you do today (or in the future) as a result is something you can change.

Regrets, I've had a few., by Baurmann Gallery on Jan 23, 2011 6:48:32 GMT 1, On a much lighter note:
I definitely regret parking where I did the day that a hit & run driver smashed a Honda Civic (parked in front of my old Corvette) so hard it ended up on my hood about 1-2 feet from going through my front windshieldโฆI also regret standing out there over an hour and a half (waiting for the cops to come) while everyone was pretty much stopping & taking pictures (and I think even some posting to car forums). Though looking back, it did almost look like the Banksy painting โPuppy Loveโ which I do find funny and a bit ironicโฆ.though Iโm sure the car felt pretty violated
I also definitely regret having too much to drink the night I accidentally set a drink on MEARโs newly finished 13 foot tall sculpture. Though I can find a little humor in the fact that at least it was not @ a museum where I could have easily been blacklisted as resultโฆit also showed me what a good friend he always has been (in addition to the business relationship) by not killing me over that eitherโฆLOL
I donโt regret having to much to drink the opening night of Banksyโs first major show in LA though, as that at least caused me to be so drunk and just wander at the end of the show to find a bathroom somewhere when security was kicking everyone outโฆI ended up way in the back where they must have moved the elephant too. Though a bit surprised, I think thatโs one of those times that being really drunk helps in the fact you just looked up and saw a big elephant there standing close-by in the darkness, but were trashed enough that you didnโt think too deep about it and just laughed!

I couldn't agree more...don't mean to get too deep or heavy on anything, it's just a very interesting point of discussion that I think could probably take up a semester in college (in Psychology) &/or definitely a wide range of dissertation topics.
I also know w/ you Craig the glass is always half full, unless it is beer, then it's on it's way to being finished or kindly being shared

Re. Nirvana, I have a regret, I was collecting a lot of vinyl back then, and had this vinyl pusher in the UK. This was before emails, so it worked like this: He sent me a letter in the post with the items available, then I had to choose what I wanted, make a int. cheque and send back to him along with my list of wants. Sadly every time it took too long and the "Love Buzz" single I wanted was gone everytime. I was offered it two times, so I'd wish I had just picked up the phone back then and reserved it.
Also had ticket for a Nirvana show in Copenhagen '94, but then Mr. Cobain felt he had to load up on guns.

Regrets, I've had a few., by colinfishwick on Jan 23, 2011 22:11:10 GMT 1, Art wise my biggest regret was selling my Grin Reaper on the basis of it not being child friendly - even if i got another one now it wouldn't be the same, it wouldn't be my one
regrets in life? not a single one, i wish i had appreciated the potential of a good education when i was at school, i wish i had discovered my creative side before i was 30 (ish), i wish i read more but none of these things would count as regrets - i'm so happy as i am today that it would be far too selfish of me to regret a single thing that has helped to make me who i am today: good and bad, it all adds up

Regrets, I've had a few., by Jeezuz Jones Snr on Jan 24, 2011 3:08:29 GMT 1, Only one art regret - not buying a "Headless Astro' at cost a few years back... No other regrets, loving life although wish the misses would allow me a bigger art allowance For years I wish I had taken a job in Hong Kong I was offered when I finished Uni. My mate went & he saved a shitload of $$ and partied hard also... Music regret, I didn't make the effort to get to Spike Island for the Stone Roses gig, I had to wait until 1995 to see them....

Regrets, I've had a few., by adewilliams on Jan 24, 2011 10:49:52 GMT 1, I brought an Applause print form SG, went out for a few drinks, one thing lead to another and I woke up in the morning with no idea where the print was. Yes I lost a Banksy which is quite regretful.
