print prices up 35% in 45 days, by adrscib on Jun 19, 2007 19:58:47 GMT 1, The Kate Moss that went unsold had a 28k offer!
The Virgin Mary that went unsold had an offer for £5.1k refused (last sale was 3rd May for £3750).
There is one for sale at £7k (was £6.5k one week ago).
The highest reaper was £4609 1st of June and is now trading for £4.5k with 5 days to go... my best based on trend is £5.3k
Soup can went for £6.4k this week from £4.3k in 8-apr.
For the richer... A small canvas yday went to £86k (the feel was for £30-40k)....
simply amazing. ;D

print prices up 35% in 45 days, by cityman on Jun 19, 2007 20:05:36 GMT 1, i kind of sense that this momentum will continue. at the moment there's only a couple of dozen prints on the bay - usually it's 50-60 people are now holding onto prints, they are finally realising the potential. me included. this time next year Rodders........

print prices up 35% in 45 days, by ABC on Jun 19, 2007 20:13:21 GMT 1, I take it you knew the sellers then. 28k for a kate, that would have been a nice profit on the original purchase price.

print prices up 35% in 45 days, by dgb133 on Jun 19, 2007 20:15:16 GMT 1, Also a Paranoid Pictures canvas sold for under $15,000 in January on the bay. And then one sold at Sothebys for about 5 times that or more???
But do realize that the higher these prices go, the harder it will be to double. It's much easier to double, triple, quadruple your money on a 2k or so print if you bought it last year. But doubling, trippling, quadrupling your money on a a print that you spent 10k on plus who knows what in finance charges!?!?! That's going to be a lot harder.
If there really are all these people holding out for next year who think they'll get 10 times more. Just imagine what will happen if prices start to drop. All those people will run screaming and the bay is gong to be flooded...
The higher these things go in price the smaller the audience is going to get. As much as I like Banksy I could never justify spending the kind of money that these prints go for. Even if I can pull it off.

print prices up 35% in 45 days, by adrscib on Jun 19, 2007 20:21:24 GMT 1, dgb133.... there is tulip bubble rush... no one knows for how long it will go... but the art market (particularly graffiti market trend) has quadrupled in the last 2 years... also thanks to JM Basquait....
i wont say banksy will keep giving 10 times rewards... but lets say... you bought a print for 2k and can sell for 20k today.... (10 times)...
maybe next year it goes to 40k.... only 100% profit but in montery terms its better!!!!
mentality is buy high, sell higher!
also... no one knows the peak prices they can go... warhols very limited soup cans go for £120k!
a hirst print can sell for 10-15k (from an edition of 500!).... and he's not the man of the moment
and ppl are holding and holding more, and those who do not own are rushing to buy so that they dont get left behind...
furthremore the first prints are being offered on major auction sites which means that this man is going to a higher levels.... which also implies that the amounts of trades on ebay will keep diminshing but the dollar / pound value keeps rising....

print prices up 35% in 45 days, by dgb133 on Jun 19, 2007 20:35:52 GMT 1, I'm not saying Banksy isn't on solid ground. No doubt he has earned a solid spot in Art history.
And you guys are right, buying strength is a smart move sure. But not only has the graffitti market been bubbling over. The entire art market has been blowing hard for the last several years. If you want my opinon there's about one more good year left. Which may mean Banksy prices still have room to double again? Who knows. Not worth the risk to me. There's a limited amount of people who have 40k to blow on a Banksy print. There's no way it can maintain this momentum. You're right no one knows where the top will be. I'm just saying that although expensive, Banksy prints are not scarce. There's thousands of people out there who own a Banksy print right now. And if the bubble bursts. The bay will be absolutely flooded.
Bird in the hand...

print prices up 35% in 45 days, by finsburyparkranger on Jun 19, 2007 21:14:29 GMT 1, If there are 3000 signed banksy's in the world and 6.6 billion people on planet earth then there is one signed banksy for for every 22000 people.
If one group of 22000 people shared their signed banksy every person would get to have it on their wall for one day every 60 years.

print prices up 35% in 45 days, by hankpank on Jun 19, 2007 21:27:15 GMT 1, I still think there's room for further rises in price for Banksy. Most, if not 90% (of the prints) are still in the UK and up till Morons Sepia almost noone outside of UK had had a chance to get one directly from POW. Mostly because people in the rest of the world began to notice Banksy first after Barely Legal. And still most prints on Ebay is sold by people in London to people in London, but the secret is spreading fast. But there's still most of the rest of the world to get into the frenzy.
Ebay prices the coming months will probably go down. Last summer they went down with around 20% (guesstimate) and i guess the same will happen this summer. But come september...

True but 99% of americans don't know where afghanistan is either. If you draw an analogy with music the american market is not an easy place to break in to.
