Clearly the print buying market is at a phenomenal point at the moment.
People are buying/flipping prints like nobody's business. This has never happened before. Warhol I think is the only historical big-name 'printmaker' and people certainly weren't F5'ing his works.
We're seeing prints change hands for thousands and portfolioing away for retirement funds but..... with so much 'unoriginal' art out there, when the bubble bursts, which it inevitably will... will it all be worth bollocks.
"If you're buying for an investment then you're a bas*ard"...yeah, yeah...
But when we all buy prints, it's because we're buying what we consider to be a piece of art and successful art is something that has a market value. There's a hell of a lot of incredibly competent 'art' in existence but unless it has third party appreciation then it's just pictures on walls...pun intended.
Even Banksy... how many 'original' prints has he done? Five figures worth. Are there going to be enough people in the future who give a rat's ass (and again)?
Question is... is this the only point in time where buying and selling prints is viable?

as to your question, i think only a handful of these "urban artists" will retain any sort of notoriety even 2 or 3 years from now.
that's why most of this stuff should have just been printed on skateboards and scraped away on the curbs and railings of the world.

Personally, I think Banksy prints have reached a ceiling level now and will only increase in price value along with inflation (if at all). With regards to other artists PRINTS, I can't see anyone coming close to Banksy (maybe Neate).... Micallef proved that last year with his 2600 one day release.
I originally bought prints for investment having no idea what the 'urban scene was' 2 years ago and have thankfully realised my mistake. I now buy things I like and therefore reduced my 'collection' from 10 to 6 pieces (3 of which are originals). When the people who are jumping on the urban bandwagon now have the same realisation as I did 6 months ago, it'll all go tits up and a lot of peoples fingers will be burnt.
Take Nick Walkers latest print as an example.... someone sold theirs for 8k on ebay and within a month one went for just over a grand.... its the uneducated, ill-informed and 'too much spare cash' investors who are creating their own downfall as it is they who inflate the price and then trip themselves up.
My opinion... but I'm happy with the things I have and if they make me rich in the next 5-10 years, bonus!

So I was in my studio today and knocked up a couple of original works and I was thinking I'd like to maybe give them away to forum members.
I just want to get my work out there and some feedback as to what people may think. I've posted some of my street work on here recently and got some fairly positive responses.
Now I don't want any money for these...that's not the point of doing this at all. However, I don't want to give them away just to sit in someone's cupboard...
They're both newspaper/magazine on wood with varnish.

BROWN BUSH
All I can think of to say is that they're free to a good home but I want to make sure that someone's not just taking one 'cause it's free. Maybe a swap for another artist's work... Or maybe just a convincing argument. So, in fear of sounding like a crap competition, if anyone wants one let me know what you're thinking.
Any feedback, positive or negative would be appreciated.

Looks like quite a bit of work has gone into no 1 and there is a theme to it. As Haveyn says its similar in style to Bast. Would love one similar after Harveyn  Second one doesn't quite work for me and its not because its not g/f friendly.
