Anyone back from their Aquarium mission today??, by speebe on Dec 21, 2008 19:51:08 GMT 1, I went down on Sat.
I collected two bags of booty to give away, made up of a mixture of Billy Childish books, some Reid Prints and Cauty Posters etc.
I was assigned to the RCA too.
Got my Badge...

A few nice moments, a very young girl explaining what she thought the Julie Andrews poster by Cauty meant, explaining to her dad that the lush fields replaced by rubbish illustrated the reality of what's happening to our country??? sounded like a plausible rational coming from a 6/7 year old.
Gave away everything but had a few Childish books left which I distributed at cafe tables and public loos, I think he'd approve!

Still sh1t loads of stuff although due to their poor management of prints a large number could well be damaged by tomorrow as it more resembles a jumble sale in the basement rather than a print sale!

Some very very interesting stuff in there. A lot of it wasnt that much cheaper though, but some good stuff if you sifted through everything (note to self...Don't take a bored, whinging g/f next time). Could have spent thousands in there.

They still have a fair few of these Jamie Reid (full size) prints in stock - originally ยฃ225 i think and now ยฃ50. You should be able to get at least ยฃ100 each for them on ebay considering people are trying to punt out the signed pop edition for ยฃ75-95!

I agree Howlinhoker. I didn't realise until recently that I have more Reid than anyone else purely because each time I see one, I feel it is a classic and should own it.

It's worth asking if you can't find what you're looking for - there appeard to be piles of stuff in the 'office' out the back when I went. Also picked up a really nice Daniel Johnston print for next to nothing that I found under a huge pile of discarded cardboard.
The staff are more than willing to do a deal, especially for cash.

Had a HUGE James Cauty original framed collage reduced from 4000  to........... 600

Was that for real Mojo. I did notice one was priced at ยฃ75 but thought that was an old price. Still a nice piece though. IMO.

Anyone back from their Aquarium mission today??, by danmuppet on Dec 23, 2008 15:58:43 GMT 1, just got back and had a wicked time!! it was like a print jumble sale- sad to see some of the pieces just thrown on the floor with footprints on and bent edges! i got some pure classics- 17 cauty stamps all different and numbered, in good condition for 100 squids!! love them all.
