Buying my first Signed Banksy., by will on Oct 27, 2008 17:47:58 GMT 1, Hi,
So... I'm hitting the big 18 soon and for my Birthday my goal is to buy a signed Banksy for my bedroom wall, however I am unsure of a few things. such as where to buy? I do not trust Ebay as I know the majority of Banksy prints are fake so Is the forum my only other option? Also what kind of price will I have to pay? I am hoping anything under ยฃ3,000 for a signed print.
In order to fund this it means I will be selling my Dolk collection So if anyone is interested PM me!

Buying my first Signed Banksy., by Damien on Oct 27, 2008 17:54:26 GMT 1, you could buy from ebay. cheapest option really but get prov and authenticity from pow, the owner should be able to give you details so you can call pow and confirm that it is original

Buying my first Signed Banksy., by G-Man on Oct 27, 2008 17:58:30 GMT 1, Yeah I'd go the Ebay route and for ยฃ2k the trolleys or S&S are the best IMO
I would make sure you get solid provenance preferably in the form of a COA from POW or PC but registered owner at POW is as good.
Also try and meet or PayPal... DONT bank transfer!!
Good Luck let us know what you land???

Buying my first Signed Banksy., by Heavyconsumer on Oct 27, 2008 18:04:18 GMT 1, You're likely to get a slightly better price in here from a member, if you negotiate, as no fees are lost to ebay and possibly paypal too. The only things to be sure of are that A) he/she provides some refernces from other members and they all come back saying the person was good to buy from; B) If a face to face deal can be arranged there will be no issue with condition or returns and maybe a deal could be done in the safety of your home rather than having to travel around with cash or a ยฃ2-3k print on your person; and C) make sure the print has rock solid provenance, which should be very easy for the seller, as for sub-ยฃ3k, the print will probably be 18 months old at most.
BUT, If you do buy from Ebay, make sure the seller has PLENTY of positive feedback and not all for low value items, ideally they will have sold numerous other valuable items, otherwise be very very careful! You probably don't have to worry about "fakes" as such if you're looking at a Morons, Grannies, Trolleys or S+S. Not sure anything else will be going for that price range really (signed). Whatever you choose, just try to cover your backside and be smart and best of luck! It's a great choice to be making!

Buying my first Signed Banksy., by silvermyn on Oct 27, 2008 18:05:45 GMT 1, Hey Will.
Don't fear the eBay! Once you've identified a nice print in MINT condition, make sure you get some solid provenance and a certificate of authenticity from POW before you hand over any money. The certificate will cost you an extra ยฃ50+ but you'll be absolutely certain then IMO.
I think a nice colour Trolleys is the way forward on a sub-ยฃ3k budget. It's a cracking print and you can pick one up for a reasonable price. Alternatively, if you can hold on for another couple of months you may be able bag a Banksy print (provided there are any) at SG08 at cost. If not, you still have the secondary market to fall back on and prices could continue to move in favour of the buyer.
Best of luck with it.

Except that for an SG 08 he may have to wait until next century, unless they'll be in August from now on, or you work for POW and know different. I wouldn't be taking anything for granted at the moment. No prints for over 10 months as it is and even if there is a print release soon, with 100,000 people in the bun fight for the last 500 prints, the odds aren't very good for anyone these days (there will be more people in it next time). The only guaranteed way to own a print is to bite the bullett and buy one from a seller imo.
But we so have similar taste Silvermyn - If it were my money, I'd be looking for a Colour Trolleys for sub-ยฃ2k (if I didn't already have one). It's beautiful!
