Original Banksy T Shirts, by gerry on Sept 24, 2008 14:44:32 GMT 1, I'm writing a short piece for the blog at the moment on the original Banksy T Shirts that he had made back in the day. Got some photos of some of them, and background info on it all too, so it should be quite interesting, but was wondering if anyone round here had any info or photos of any of them as well. Interested on photos of them then or even them as they look now (how well did they last?), where they were bought from, how much, when bought, that kinda thing.
Any info/photos gratefully received and duly credited, and will let you all know when the article's up as well - bristolgraffiti@googlemail.com
cheers!

Original Banksy T Shirts, by princeofdalston on Sept 25, 2008 14:00:00 GMT 1, I had the flower throwing one against a bankdrop of a union jack, but decided it looked a little "nationistic" since I was living in a prodominately Muslim community at the time of 9/11 so I returned it

Original Banksy T Shirts, by crazyarsemother on Sept 25, 2008 16:56:17 GMT 1, I have or had (gave it to my brother) a grey xl t-shirt with flying coppers really tastefully creen printed in two tones (black and yellow). It has city of angels written on it and a motief on the sleeve. Its very very cool. I bought it before all the hype and was told it was from a show he was involved in, in LA (before barely legal). I assumed it was a fake but there is something strange about the design and the effort that has gone into that I have often wondered whether it maybe genuine. my brother never wears it and I might get it back off him. I have one photo somewhere. Anyone any ideas?

Original Banksy T Shirts, by Sliding on the Walls on Sept 25, 2008 17:38:09 GMT 1, I bought a banksy T shirt around 2002 which was red, with an ice cream cone with a stick of dynamite in the middle as a flake. I'm pretty sure it's a 'fake' as it's got a fruit of the loom label. I love it though

Original Banksy T Shirts, by gerry on Sept 25, 2008 20:22:21 GMT 1, From what i've found out so far, if you bought one before it all kicked off then it probably is genuine, think there were quite a few designs done, and haven't heard of any fakes until later. Wouldn't worry about the label, some had specially made banksy labels in the neck, but others were just done on normal plain t shirts.
If anyone's got photos do email them over and may be able to check them out with people who know.

ummm...not really sure if i should be saying this but it may well have been ones that i got screen printed. i was at uni at the time in bristol and got a couple of designs screen printed for mates when we where leaving uni as presents (about 2002-3) and as the price of the t-shirts got dramatically cheaper if you did 10 rather than 9 i tended to do a order for 10 and then put the extras on ebay (only saying that they were based on banksy designs, i wasn't trying to sell them as genuine banksys).
back in '01(ish) there were a couple of designs that were available through alterior on park street (i can remember golf sale was one of them but not the other) and i didn't get one at the time, and they never got reprinted - i asked dave in the store if ever they planned to redo them and they didn't so i just did used photos i took of banksy's street pieces and got them screen printed at shirttales (just down from the green leaf bookstore that used to have the banksy prints in).
the ice cream cone deign had come from a wall of sound flyer that i'd picked up for a show that was going on in brighton.
this wasn't ever a cash making venture (i think i may have a couple of the t-shirts in a box somewhere) but a gift for mates with a couple of extras sold on to cover costs, but for the sake of the blog i thought i'd mention it.
sorry guys if this upsets anyone but as i said i only did it because they weren't available at the time and this was the best leaving present i could think of for my mates.

Original Banksy T Shirts, by gerry on Sept 26, 2008 8:50:42 GMT 1, That's legendary info, cheers man, just the kinda stuff that helps clear things up. Again, if you've got photos of them that would be grand. If you're still in bristol can come round and photograph them for you if you want.

Original Banksy T Shirts, by BME on Sept 26, 2008 9:08:21 GMT 1, There's a series of limited edition griffin t.shirts as well- originally included for sale in a pack of stuff - with poster, stickers etc back in 2003 or so. I've got one of those somewhere. There's also some from the Turf War show and a few others- one of a group of terrorists playing soccer.

Original Banksy T Shirts, by wigs on Sept 26, 2008 13:11:02 GMT 1, A mate of mine has got a heavey weapon one he got when he worked with banksy in a youth centre in bristol yonks ago (as they say) I think he still may have it. Another bloke I know had a ben sherman grey hoody with the same design over the brest and ben sherman stiched on the back. This went to a charity shop some time ago. Don't know the full story but will try and find out

There were also a couple of Griffin shirts hand sprayed by Banksy, buttons down the front of the shirt and a Bombhugger on the back. Rather special I'd say.
