The Contemporary NON-Street Art Thread, by jamesreeve5 on Jan 28, 2008 9:42:16 GMT 1, After reading the article on the upcoming Urban Art Auction that was in the Times Online, and reading a few of the subsequent reactions to it ("they said that about Picasso too... blah blah, chip on the shoulder), I think it's time we have a thread on here dedicated to contemporary NON-street art.
It's all about integration, and dissemination of ideas. If a Banksy can be sold next to a Koons or a Pettibon in Sotheby's, then a Pettibon or a Koons should be openly discussed on the Banksy forum.
I know there are other forum embers out there who hang their Swoons next to their Nan Goldins and their Red Balloon Dogs right over their bunny boy sculptures. So lets hear about those OTHER pieces.

Do you know of any other Eliasson sketches that might be available? And you have two? Very impressive.

The Contemporary NON-Street Art Thread, by daley on Jan 29, 2008 12:15:31 GMT 1, Well. if we are gonna talk about non urban artists then here's some of my faves. Peter Hoswon (Flowers East Gallery) - ex bouncer/squaddie from Scotland - bloody brilliant. Nathan Ford - (Beaux Arts) Crawfurd Adamson - (Signal Gallery and Portland Gallery) - excellent draughtsmanship Jenny Seville (Saatchi) amazing yet ugly depictation of the human condition. Do a google image search and see what you think.

The Contemporary NON-Street Art Thread, by snapwolfe on Jan 30, 2008 5:58:16 GMT 1, Underneath my Aiko is a Lorna Simpson sculpture and to the right is a Roberto Lazzarini Teacup sculpture. Caticorner to the Swoon are 3 B&W photos of Warhol by Nat Finkelstein. Just waiting to hang the Christopher Bucklow across from the Faile. Kara Walker's PopUp Book is displayed along side Banksy's Paris Hilton CD. More to come....the addiction is multifaceted.

The Contemporary NON-Street Art Thread, by jamesreeve5 on Jan 30, 2008 6:19:17 GMT 1, One of my favorite pieces I own is a 6 inch concrete cube by the artist Teresa Margolles...
my piece looks a bit like this (a pic of one of her other works):
The concrete was mixed from the water used to wash corpses in the morgue in Mexico City.
