LAZ's new star, by Harveyn on Nov 9, 2007 21:37:52 GMT 1, I have to say it is rare I feel moved enough to be negative about anybodies art reserving my comments to when I have something positive to say.
But there is a first time for everything.....this is most definitely not my cup of tea.

LAZ's new star, by ROLLINS on Nov 9, 2007 21:40:18 GMT 1, โI aim to bring the urban and rural into stark contrast; and I like the idea of adding colour to our world,โ says Donovan. Like director Shane Meadows in Dead Manโs Shoes, she jabs at our assumptions of both town and country life.
Ha ha ha - WHAT???

LAZ's new star, by pkt75 on Nov 9, 2007 22:23:58 GMT 1, I can hear it now.... "Daddy, I want to paint like those poor people. Can I Daddy, Can I?" He replies "anything you want my darling Donovan junior, I happen to know another stinking rich wanker like myself, he has a gallery in Soho, London. Consider yourself an Artist Princess". Has she got shit in her eyes or something???

LAZ's new star, by ejvaze on Nov 9, 2007 23:35:37 GMT 1, Please don't neg me but I'd just like to say I would be interested to seeing this work in the flesh, so to speak. It reminds me of a super little canvas which was positioned next to Banksys work at the Sothebys preview, of their June sale. The canvas was by Nigel Cooke and was called 'Dark Sun' dated 2002. I really liked it, it had so much detail going on in it. Like this artists work Nigel's canvas was really small 25.6 x 35.7cm
OK this is very different from the rest of the work at Laz and I don't like every artist they represent but as for Miranda Donovan's work, I will reserve judgment until have seen it in the flesh. At the end of the day it will be THE work that I am interested in and not if the artist is male or female rich or poor. Sometimes the Internet is not the best place to make a decision re the merit of the work. As i understand she likes and uses texture so as I said I'd like to see the work close up before dismissing it.
Here is Niels canvas I liked

LAZ's new star, by finsburyparkranger on Nov 11, 2007 15:10:48 GMT 1, .... Its perfect fodder to sell to tourists on charring cross road that want to buy into the London street art culture and don't know where else to start. Wouldn't want it on my wall though, I like the idea amazing art going on the streets that challenges the critique that street art is vandalism not shite art going on canvass that negatively stereotypes the notion of street art. Very poor. Can't believe LAZ is wanting to associate himself with it.

FPR I agree perfect for the C x Rd tourists and I too LOVE the amazing art going on the street from wonderful artists and all for FREE.
I think the tourists should be looking at the streets and taking photos home rather than buying souvenirs.
However re this ladies work as stated in my previous post I will reserve judgment until I have seen her work in the flesh.
