NuArt Festival Photo's, by dave313perry on Sept 15, 2007 11:15:56 GMT 1, Id Like to give a BIG BIGUP to Nuart - i read something on WC.info that made me think
Nuart Festival is the only exhibition where the focus is primarily on the visual experience, the art is not for sale, as far as im aware. And serves a sole purpose of pleasing the audience.
I find this refreshing and brings on a certain realisation of the market were caught up in - no queing at silly hours, no over the top prices for a giclee, just good old visual pleasure
So bigup to Nuart to not jumping on the Gallery band-wagon and keeping it real
Peace Dave

Great shout, everyone to thier own but
With talk of people on here traveling half way around the world for 'PRINTS' with hardly a whimper about how excited they are at seeing the exhibition.
Time for a reality check. With this forums roots based in street art, then the title for 'Exhibition of the year' should already be residing in Stavanger.
All of course IMO
I'm out

NuArt Festival Photo's, by dave313perry on Sept 15, 2007 11:57:29 GMT 1, exactly my point bcfc - alot of emphasis on prints, which is cool
but i think the originals and shows is also a major factor for true art lovers
Peace

NuArt Festival Photo's, by corblimeylimey on Sept 15, 2007 13:43:19 GMT 1, I must admit that I didn't know much about the Nuart festival but after seeing the photo's I couldn't believe how fantastic everything looked. Even though I haven't seen it in person I'll have to change my vote for the best show of the year. Is the show every year, if so I'm there next year. The people going to L.A. for the Micallef would have been better going to Nuart. Well done Nu, the whole thing looks amazing.
hear hear

NuArt Festival Photo's, by numusic on Sept 15, 2007 14:27:34 GMT 1, cheers for the kind words guys, and yeah. The show sets out to redress the balance against the consumer madness that has become the print market these days. It's also in a museum and not a gallery, mainly because they're mandated by law to protect and conserve art of historical importance, and what makes art historically important ? art in a museum maybe :-) Could be that this is the only place in the country that it's illegal to buff the work. ha ha. A nice little paradox. :-)
All work is directly on the museum walls, and Dave's right, nothing is for sale apart from the originals in the box sets. All profits from which go to Amnesty. Also just had word from the museum, it's the most oversubscribed school visit show they've ever had ! The next generation of vandals have been exposed to the best :-) Also 500 visitors on Sunday !... not counting the street work which was also excellent and flagrent ! Show runs until November 04th, after which it'll be buffed back to white.

My minions were on hand to film.. actually it's just static and goes off every 20 secs so no probs. But yeah, a few 24hour sessions were had.. fuelled by M-City's Polish vodka !
