Anyone heard back from Jimmy Choe yet?, by gavagai on Sept 12, 2007 17:36:44 GMT 1, if "JIMMY" Choe gets any more name recognition he might have to put out his own set of prints - How much worse could it be than the filth coming out of P.O.W.?

Cheers for the info about DC being on tour. Like you say it may well have something to with the delay. I strongly suspect they are also going through submissions with a fine toothcomb to weed out the flippers where they can.
I think it's great that Jimmy gets some recognition for his input in getting these prints out. As David acknowledges, the business side is all Jimmy from production to distribution so good for him. Makes you wonder what Jimmy might create if he wanted to though!
Not so sure about your last point though. POW have got some fantastic art available on their site an have been responsible for some of the best screenprints I've had the pleasure to buy. Yes there is some sh1te that doesn't appeal to me either but this is balanced by the strength of other work. (Their packaging could be improved too! )
Look at Blu, Vaucher, Bast, Reas, Eine, Faile, Chalfant and Walker to name a few. I know it's subjective but to say it's all 'filth' is surely too much of a sweeping statement? Consider what POW have done in terms of Banksy prints, Micallef, Choe, Insect, Pure Evil, Blu, Erica, the list goes on.

I was obviously being over general. No doubt POW have put out some nice prints. That being said, even those are usually large editions at inflated prices. Also, the below quote just pisses me off -
"Why are they so expensive? F**k off. Every POW edition print so far has sold out (eventually). They are always on eBay for more money. We genuinely set out to make art available to more than just tossers and gangsters."
WTF? So you hit the jackpot and bagged BANKSY. Nice. What many of these dolts don't realize is that there is a difference between a flipper (aka buys up prints just to sell) and the rest of us (or many of us) who are forced to pay large sums of money for artwork or prints over the internet at lightning speeds while looking at crappy jpegs. The whole "scene" is perfect for flippers, which in turn influences others who genuinely like the work to sell because the price is so out of wack with what the purchase price was...oops I think I am off topic...
...Oh Jimmy where art thou?

Anyone heard back from Jimmy Choe yet?, by Filipino Box Spring Hog on Sept 16, 2007 5:56:21 GMT 1, Anyone? Seriously now...is Jimmy hospitalized or what? If there is an award handed out for worse communication this has got to be it.... With all the money they've made you'd think they could at least hire a secretary for an hour or two to sort this out and get back to everyone....

Anyone heard back from Jimmy Choe yet?, by a4mnt on Sept 16, 2007 11:35:58 GMT 1, David Choe moved his studio all of last week. As well as doing the Upper Playground east and west coast live painting tour. But i think mainly its the move of studio that is holding the confirmations up.
